As many of you may know, our beloved sister hostess SHARON DONOVAN, tragically passed away on 11th April 2012. We who knew her, loved her, and were inspired by her courage and determination to face head on whatever life threw at her. When she could no longer see to paint she turned to writing and showed her amazing talent in the Inspirational Romance and Romantic Suspense genres, and her story 'Charade Of Hearts' was awarded the coveted Predators and Editors Award in January 2011.

This Blog was a source of great delight to her, she was one of the founder hostesses and she contributed to the fun and silliness in her own original way, and was kind enough to let her unique creation, the hunky butler 'Oliver' join us for our Friday romp and prepare 'virtual breakfast' for the guests on the following morning. It's beyond hard to have to go on without her, but we know that she would have been the first to insist that 'the show must go on.' She is, and will always be with us in spirit.
Sharon, dear friend, we will never forget you.
The Author Roast and Toast is part of the legacy you left us. Let's raise a Toast to you as well as all our guests.

A special Valentine's Day Celebration with the authors of Hearts and Kisses!

http://oregongardenclubs.org/portals/52/2014/long-stem-rose.jpg“Twelve authors? Wow! Romance just in time for Valentine’s Day. Love is in the air.” Mac sighs, a dreamy look crosses her face as she grabs up a set of Hearts and Kisses and clutches it when Lyn tries to take a look over her shoulder.

“I just want to look at the cover. I promise to give it back.” Lyn grins.

“Don’t trust her, she loves these boxed sets.” Lilly laughs and elbows LaVerne. “I got one for each of us, don’t tell them.”

Mary smirks, and then smiles with pride. “I happen to know a few of these wonderful writers. Mimi Barbour, Ginny Baird, Anna J. Stewart, Jackie Weger, Melina Curtis, Sophia Knightly, Donna Fasano, Helen Scott Taylor, Patrice Wilton, Ari Thatcher, Mona Risk, and Traci Hall. Several of them are in my local chapter, and if it wasn’t for Traci, I wouldn’t be here.”

“That’s wonderful.” Lyn remarks. “I have just one question. Why are you wearing a balloon hat? And are you sober. You know, dressing from head to toe in hearts is just a bit beyond normal.”

“The balloons are an inside joke. And what’s wrong with my heart apparel?” Mary touches the hearts she has glued on her arms. “Nothing is hanging out, and I have no wardrobe malfunctions.

“Well for one thing, gluing hearts to your body is not apparel. How did you find hearts big enough to cover those watermelons on your chest?” Lilly grins. “I chose this delicate chiffon number. I thought it would be romantic."

“I picked this lovely spring dress. It reminds me of home with all the flowers on it.” Lyn twirls to show off her dress.

“You look like a hippie.” Mary pats one of her loose hearts into place.

“We all should have coordinated our clothing, and Lilly, delicate is the wrong word. Try humongous, your dress will fluff and cover your face when you sit.” Mac smiles and gestures at LaVerne’s dress; it exactly matches hers. “We planned ahead.”

“So you planned those disasters?” Mary mumbles.

"Jealousy is not a good thing. You lost a heart. I hope you brought the crazy glue. It could become an issue.” Mac warns.

The hostesses walk into the swanky party. Hearts and colorful flowers fill the room. The scent of roses reminiscent of a high end flower shop. Chocolate of all kinds covers the main tables.

Everyone surrounds Mary just in case she loses any more hearts.

Oliver smiles at them and holds back his laughter as he sees their clothing. He snickers and points to the huge dark, white and milk chocolate cake and hands a glass of champagne to each of them. He gestures to the twelve authors who are surrounded by fans while autographing their books. They try to get to their authors, but the crowd grows and pushes them back every time they try to approach.

Mary loses a few more hearts.

“Well at least it’s well attended. We should get a lot of comments.” Lilly remarks.

Lyn, with determination on her face, pushes her way through the crowd and makes it to the authors.

“Welcome to your party ladies, we’re so glad you could make it.

Traci Hall flashes a smile and asks as she signs away. “Who are you?”

Welcome to the Valentine’s Day celebration for the release of twelve wonderful author’s anthology, Hearts and Kisses. These talented authors, each with their own take on love, are here to celebrate their new release. Let’s welcome them one and all, and pick up a copy of their fantastic book!
