As many of you may know, our beloved sister hostess SHARON DONOVAN, tragically passed away on 11th April 2012. We who knew her, loved her, and were inspired by her courage and determination to face head on whatever life threw at her. When she could no longer see to paint she turned to writing and showed her amazing talent in the Inspirational Romance and Romantic Suspense genres, and her story 'Charade Of Hearts' was awarded the coveted Predators and Editors Award in January 2011.

This Blog was a source of great delight to her, she was one of the founder hostesses and she contributed to the fun and silliness in her own original way, and was kind enough to let her unique creation, the hunky butler 'Oliver' join us for our Friday romp and prepare 'virtual breakfast' for the guests on the following morning. It's beyond hard to have to go on without her, but we know that she would have been the first to insist that 'the show must go on.' She is, and will always be with us in spirit.
Sharon, dear friend, we will never forget you.
The Author Roast and Toast is part of the legacy you left us. Let's raise a Toast to you as well as all our guests.

Birthday Party and Giveaway for the Portals Anthology

Thick mist obscures half of the full moon, and surrounds the medieval castle in a shroud. The hostesses of the Author Roast and Toast gather on a battlement, looking out over the eerie landscape.

"Ooooh, creepy," Melissa says. "Hard to believe this is a summer night."

"Hard to believe we're not here for a gothic horror novel," Lyn says.

With an indelicate snort, Mary glances down at her steam punk attire. "Even harder to believe that someone told me to dress like Lara Croft from Victorian Britain."

Sniggering, Lilly and AJ hide behind their hands. Both ladies wear modern evening gowns better suited to the  gala event being thrown to honor the fantasy anthology, Portals. The authors of the newly released work are likewise tastefully attired, so Mary appears even more the sore thumb.

"I don't know what could have happened," Lyn says to Mary. "Didn't you get the memo? I had it sent out via courier. Hand delivered by none other than-"

Mary cuts her short, glaring fiercely. "Mac!"

"Don't kill the messenger!" Mac throws up her hands and hurries away. She takes off in pursuit of Oliver, headed in the opposite direction with a tray full of a sinister looking red beverage being served in wine glasses.

"I'm so glad I'm not on the hook this time," Melissa mutters. "Mary, I think you look adorable."

"Oh yes," Lilly and AJ chant together. "You're just so darn cute!"

    1. Hello, Melissa. So far so good. Have either of you ever had grizzly bear before? I'm sorry, I'm just really curious.

    2. Echo, I hear Grizzly is good. I've never personally tried it, but if you can wrestle one to the ground, kill it, skin it, and cook it, I'll give it a go. lol! Then again, I think I'll just have a cheeseburger.

    3. And here I thought if I ever went camping, I wouldn't want to run into a bear. Little did I know I should be waiting for him with a turkey baster and a really big bowl..:-)

    4. lmao. Oops! Sorry Echo. Damn, I should have never chugged those first two drinks so early in the morning. It's Mary's fault. She scares me. Welcome to your roast chickies!

  6. Mysterious things are happening today. Could it be part of the fantasy for the Portals release? I commented earlier and it just vanished. Poof! Gone. Just like magic. Maybe I just need another drink? Or a sample of some of that delicious food? Or perhaps, I'll just sneak a copy of the book and dig in....better yet, I'd rather check out those hot guys over by the bar.

Hi Emaginette, lovely to see you here - so glad you're enjoying the party and thanks for the compliment - but I can't take the credit all the hostesses work hard on the Roasts - Melissa wrote the intro this week, I just do the pictures and we all pitch in each week to help Oliver with the washing up! :)

  22. You know a party's gotten wild when someone brings out their dragon. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  23. Yeah, I guess he followed us. Sorry about the emeralds dropping around him. He sheds like the devil when he's nervous. I'll put him outside. Anyone want a ride round the kingdom?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Heck they eat whatever they want, but too much cake make it hard for them to fly. Fat might float in the water, but not so much in the air.

One piece Grr and *ducks out of the way* please watch your tail.
