As many of you may know, our beloved sister hostess SHARON DONOVAN, tragically passed away on 11th April 2012. We who knew her, loved her, and were inspired by her courage and determination to face head on whatever life threw at her. When she could no longer see to paint she turned to writing and showed her amazing talent in the Inspirational Romance and Romantic Suspense genres, and her story 'Charade Of Hearts' was awarded the coveted Predators and Editors Award in January 2011.

This Blog was a source of great delight to her, she was one of the founder hostesses and she contributed to the fun and silliness in her own original way, and was kind enough to let her unique creation, the hunky butler 'Oliver' join us for our Friday romp and prepare 'virtual breakfast' for the guests on the following morning. It's beyond hard to have to go on without her, but we know that she would have been the first to insist that 'the show must go on.' She is, and will always be with us in spirit.
Sharon, dear friend, we will never forget you.
The Author Roast and Toast is part of the legacy you left us. Let's raise a Toast to you as well as all our guests.

Doctors Beyond Borders - enjoy a Giveaway and a trip to a Greek holiday island with Georgie Tyler

"Isn't this wonderful," AJ exclaims, for once taking her eyes off her trusty cellphone, as the girls walk onto the beach of the pretty fishing bay at Mykonis, their sidekicks frolicking behind.  "Have you ever seen such a blue ocean?"

"Who are we meeting again?" Mac asks, as absentminded, as always.
"Georgie Tyler, of course," Mary tells her with a hug. "And she's promised to bring her two main characters, from her book 'Doctors Beyond Borders,' Ariadne, and Ford. Can't wait to meet them."

Lilly looks up from the Guide Book she's had her head buried in."Part of the Cyclades Greek island group in the Aegean Sea," she says, reading aloud. "Mykonos is a cosmopolitan choice adorned with picture perfect quaint whitewashed low rise buildings feathered around a pretty fishing village bay. Its collection of narrow streets and alleyways open onto hundreds of tiny red roofed churches, museums, the ancient site of Delos and many interesting museums. You will find several taverns in Mykonos Town, the capital of the island where several of the main hotels are located. Wherever you venture to on Mykonos you can be assured of a fine beach."

"That's true, Good job we're at Agios Stefanos," Melissa says. "Better not tell Mary about the -er-shall we say 'natural'  beaches at Panormos and Paradise, we might never see her again."

"I heard that!" Mary grins, "And I'll have you know I've already been there, yesterday."

Ford
Ariadne
"Oh look," Lyn says, changing the subject with something like relief crossing her face, there's Georgie!" The hostesses wave to Georgie, who looks cool and gorgeous as she walks along the beach toward them, arm in arm with the lovely Ariadne and the absolutely stunning Ford.

The hostesses hug Georgie excitely, while eyeing up Ford with much more than approval, and introducing themselves to Ariadne.

Then they all hasten to the marquee set up on the beach, where Oliver is waiting to serve them with Ouzo and exotic iced teas, and a variety of spicy Greek foods, including Spicy lamb and  fita skewers, spiced baked shrimp, spicy lamb kish shebabs, orzo, Greek salad, and a special celebration cake.

.

So what are we waiting for! Let's party as a friend of Oliver's serenades us with his bouzouki - but first I'm sure like the hostesses, you're dying to find out more about Georgies wonderful romance  'Doctors Beyond Borders.'

BLURB She's about to find out that nothing is fair when it comes to war exceptperhaps, the healing power of love.
When Ariadne Tate takes a deployment to Sudan with a medical aid organisation, romance is the last thing on her mind...but Dr Ford Gosden puts a glitch in her plans. Too damn attractive for his own good and a thoroughly nice guy, Ford slowly seeps under Ariadne's skin.

or

But Sudan is not a stable place to form a relationship, and as political tension escalates in the region, Ariadne has no choice but to focus on her job and her safety. Under the protection of a UN convoy, she heads out into the war-torn countryside — and the unthinkable happens. Captured and held hostage by a renegade with no chance of escape, Ariadne's hope for a new life with the man she loves begins to fade and the fight for her life begins.

Excerpt:

‘How do you like your living quarters?’

‘Not much. I never thought it would happen, but I’m confident I will be yearning for that lumpy bed at the house after tonight.’ She smiled and ran her fingers through her glossy hair.

‘Yeah, I know what you mean.’ He chuckled and looked outside. Pastel stripes streaked across the horizon as the sun sunk into the ground. ‘If you need me for anything at all during the night, that’s my hut over there.’ He pointed.

She looked at him, one brow cocked. ‘I’ll be just fine.’

His eyes widened. ‘Hey, I didn’t mean that…hell, I’m bunking with Jack.’ He shook his head. ‘Jeez, you have a one-track mind.’

‘Me?’ Her eyes widened and her lips twitched into a smile.

God he wanted to nibble and suck those moist bands of pink flesh. His eyes didn’t move from them as she continued to speak.

‘Anyway, my hut is out of bounds to men, so don’t you come looking for me. I don’t care if you’re scared and want your mummy.’

He sat back on his haunches, ignoring her jibe, focusing all his energy on not launching at her and kissing those smartass words right out of her mouth. He kept his hands busy and his mind blank as he helped unpack the supplies. Boy, was she distracting him. She didn’t even have to try. Sitting cross-legged, her shorts hitched around her upper thighs as she sorted through the boxes. His  eyes were engrossed by her long smooth, tanned legs. His fingers twitched, aching to reach out and touch her.

Ford tossed an empty box to the other side of the tent and averted his eyes to another, tearing it open with his bare hands. He felt her eyes on him, but didn’t dare meet her gaze. Perhaps bringing her out here wasn’t as bright an idea as he had originally thought. It was going to be one long, frustrating ride.

He gave himself a mental shakedown and decided to have a bit of fun. Comic relief was always an effective way to assuage the serious stuff. ‘By the way Ariadne, make sure you shake out your sleeping bag before you snuggle into it tonight.’

‘Why?’ Two faint lines creased the skin between her brows.

            ‘Scorpions.’

  1. Good morning ladies! I feel so warm and sunny here. I just can't tell you what a wonderful change it is from the ice storm that hit us in NC last night. I guess I should be happy we still have electricity. But...I think I'm going to forget about the cold and ice at home to day and help celebrate Georgie's book. Hmm. I think there's some sand on Ford's sexy bicep. He'll need me to brush it off for him. lol!

Ouzo, doesn't it taste like licorice? What other drinks are there? MMmmmm shrimp is great. Oliver has outdone himself again! Now don't that beat all. There's Gerard Butler, and he looks almost as good as in 300! (Lyn, and Mary eye each other as Lyn trips Mary with her size 16's feet. And Mary races her to Gerard.) Ford will never be mine! If I can't have Ford I want Gerard!!!!! CRASH, (who wins?)

  27. Mary, whatever happened to the Duke? Lyn grins as Mary blushes furiously at Gerard's expression of curiosity.

  30. So here it is. Then I'm off to the Nudie Beach with the gals!

“The slight parting of her plump lips sent a jolt through his system he couldn’t ignore. Even if he had been held at gunpoint, nothing would have stopped him from tasting those lips before he copped a bullet in the head. He leaned in and feathered his lips over hers. They were swollen, soft and tasted of salty tears. They parted further, tempting him to take more.
It undid him. Like a raging bull released from his bucking chute he plunged in, his lips moulding with hers as his tongue invaded her mouth. The little moans that reverberated at the back of her throat vibrated into his mouth and through his system, fuelling his passion. His hand moved up to her face and held it, his fingers splayed out across her cheek, his thumb caressing her chin as he gorged on that sweet, delicious mouth like it was his last meal.”

  39. Good morning girls! Oliver is so sweet. He made me a much needed Greek coffee. I must of looked a bit under the weather after our partying last night.
Just ran into Ariadne and Ford watching the sunrise. They're sad this morning becuase Ariadne has to return to Sudan to complete her deployment with Medecines Sans Frontiers and Ford is heading back to the US. He's worried. Sudan is not safe. Here's another excerpt from Doctors Beyond Borders:

“Procrastination may be the thief of time but for Ariadne, it allowed her to stay wrapped in Ford’s arms. She couldn’t bear to let him go and was making up for the weeks she had kept him at arm’s length in Sudan. But time waits for no man and this was the day of departure from their idyllic interlude.
They held each other and kissed at the airport. There was an overwhelming sadness that seeped through that kiss. Ford cupped her face in his hands and gazed at her, his expression naked with love. She pressed the heel of her hand to her heart as she watched him walk away. Tears rolled down her cheeks, like rain on a glass pane. She had never given herself away so completely.
A wave of panic rose inside her when he disappeared from her vision, stifling her breath. He said he was coming back for her. He said he loved her. She had to believe it was true. She had to.”
