"Isn't this wonderful," AJ exclaims, for once taking her eyes off her trusty cellphone, as the girls walk onto the beach of the pretty fishing bay at Mykonis, their sidekicks frolicking behind. "Have you ever seen such a blue ocean?"
"Georgie Tyler, of course," Mary tells her with a hug. "And she's promised to bring her two main characters, from her book 'Doctors Beyond Borders,' Ariadne, and Ford. Can't wait to meet them."
Lilly looks up from the Guide Book she's had her head buried in."Part of the Cyclades Greek island group in the Aegean Sea," she says, reading aloud. "Mykonos is a cosmopolitan choice adorned with picture perfect quaint whitewashed low rise buildings feathered around a pretty fishing village bay. Its collection of narrow streets and alleyways open onto hundreds of tiny red roofed churches, museums, the ancient site of Delos and many interesting museums. You will find several taverns in Mykonos Town, the capital of the island where several of the main hotels are located. Wherever you venture to on Mykonos you can be assured of a fine beach."
"That's true, Good job we're at Agios Stefanos," Melissa says. "Better not tell Mary about the -er-shall we say 'natural' beaches at Panormos and Paradise, we might never see her again."
"I heard that!" Mary grins, "And I'll have you know I've already been there, yesterday."

Ariadne |
The hostesses hug Georgie excitely, while eyeing up Ford with much more than approval, and introducing themselves to Ariadne.
Then they all hasten to the marquee set up on the beach, where Oliver is waiting to serve them with Ouzo and exotic iced teas, and a variety of spicy Greek foods, including Spicy lamb and fita skewers, spiced baked shrimp, spicy lamb kish shebabs, orzo, Greek salad, and a special celebration cake.
So what are we waiting for! Let's party as a friend of Oliver's serenades us with his bouzouki - but first I'm sure like the hostesses, you're dying to find out more about Georgies wonderful romance 'Doctors Beyond Borders.'
BLURB She's about to find out that nothing is fair when it comes to war exceptperhaps, the healing power of love.
When Ariadne Tate takes a deployment to Sudan with a medical aid organisation, romance is the last thing on her mind...but Dr Ford Gosden puts a glitch in her plans. Too damn attractive for his own good and a thoroughly nice guy, Ford slowly seeps under Ariadne's skin.

‘How do you like your living quarters?’
‘Not much. I never thought it would happen, but I’m confident I will be yearning for that lumpy bed at the house after tonight.’ She smiled and ran her fingers through her glossy hair.
‘Yeah, I know what you mean.’ He chuckled and looked outside. Pastel stripes streaked across the horizon as the sun sunk into the ground. ‘If you need me for anything at all during the night, that’s my hut over there.’ He pointed.
She looked at him, one brow cocked. ‘I’ll be just fine.’
His eyes widened. ‘Hey, I didn’t mean that…hell, I’m bunking with Jack.’ He shook his head. ‘Jeez, you have a one-track mind.’
‘Me?’ Her eyes widened and her lips twitched into a smile.
God he wanted to nibble and suck those moist bands of pink flesh. His eyes didn’t move from them as she continued to speak.
‘Anyway, my hut is out of bounds to men, so don’t you come looking for me. I don’t care if you’re scared and want your mummy.’
He sat back on his haunches, ignoring her jibe, focusing all his energy on not launching at her and kissing those smartass words right out of her mouth. He kept his hands busy and his mind blank as he helped unpack the supplies. Boy, was she distracting him. She didn’t even have to try. Sitting cross-legged, her shorts hitched around her upper thighs as she sorted through the boxes. His eyes were engrossed by her long smooth, tanned legs. His fingers twitched, aching to reach out and touch her.
Ford tossed an empty box to the other side of the tent and averted his eyes to another, tearing it open with his bare hands. He felt her eyes on him, but didn’t dare meet her gaze. Perhaps bringing her out here wasn’t as bright an idea as he had originally thought. It was going to be one long, frustrating ride.
He gave himself a mental shakedown and decided to have a bit of fun. Comic relief was always an effective way to assuage the serious stuff. ‘By the way Ariadne, make sure you shake out your sleeping bag before you snuggle into it tonight.’
‘Why?’ Two faint lines creased the skin between her brows.
‘Scorpions.’

Good morning ladies! I feel so warm and sunny here. I just can't tell you what a wonderful change it is from the ice storm that hit us in NC last night. I guess I should be happy we still have electricity. But...I think I'm going to forget about the cold and ice at home to day and help celebrate Georgie's book. Hmm. I think there's some sand on Ford's sexy bicep. He'll need me to brush it off for him. lol!
ReplyDeleteHi Georgie, welcome to your Roast party - so glad you brought Ariadne and Ford along too!
ReplyDeleteHi Lilly (Lyn hugs her is sister hostess) I didn't see you behind that large sunshade! Yes, isn't it lovely to have some sunshine and warmth after all the cold weather! Yes, Ford is enough to make us ladies feel warm all over! :)
ReplyDeleteGood morning, all! The sun is shining here as well--second day in a row! Oh my gosh, I don't know what to do with myself. LOL I am so excited to be hosting Georgie today!! Fabulous excerpt! I love a little snarky banter with my romance. And the food looks delish! I'm going to meander over by the shrimp for a bit. Hope you are all doing well!
ReplyDeleteHi AJ! *Hugs!* You know it's the second dry day in a year over here too! (Must be something to do with the weather, LOL) I've a sweet tooth, so I'm going to help myself t a bit of cake.l What's that, we can't cut the cake until Georgie gets here? Oh drat, she's in Australia so it may take her a while. OK then, I'll just have some lamb kish shebabs - ooh and the lamb and fita skewers look good too!
ReplyDeleteLamb for breakfast, Lyn? That's just baaaaad. :-) Goodmoring chickies! *airkisses then looks around* Where's Mary. Did she go back to the nekid beach? I hope she's wearing sun block.
ReplyDeleteHi Mac (Huggles) well you see, over here it's not breakfast, it's gone lunchtime! :)
ReplyDelete*Sigh* we do worry about our Mary...
Ola! Good morning! Just a drive by commnent on my way out the door to the gym. Those beaches are lovely. :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Melissa (air kises to sister hostess) enjoy your time at the gym - me I'm just emjoying the beach and the eye candy! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Lyn. I love beaches. I wish all N. Cal beaches weren't always so darn cold and windy. :D
DeleteHave fun at the gym, Melissa. I'm going to sit with Lyn and enjoy the eye candy while sipping a cool drink. Mary, stop chasing Ford before Ariadne throws a Frisbee upside your head!
ReplyDeleteLilly,
DeleteNo fun, but maybe slightly firmer thighs. ;-)
LOL Lilly. Work out for me too, Melissa. You know I hate to sweat. :-)
ReplyDeleteMac,
DeleteI little sweat is good for your pours!
I'm back and alive despite the fact that a broken elliptical machine tried to collapse beneath me when I hopped on. :D
"pores"
DeleteBe careful, Melissa! No pain no gain does NOT mean fighting off killer elliptical machines. lol!
DeleteI have been looking and looking for those au natural beaches and I can't find them. Where are they? I saw a guy with a camera running as fast as he could from a couple of nude hot guys, but they ran so fast... I only chased Ford to ask him to accompany me. Sigh, a girl just can't win these days.
ReplyDeleteSnicker
DeleteOh, don't try to pull the wool over our eyes, Mary sweetie, you told us where you were yesterday, remember? :)
ReplyDeleteWhat? Me? Where was I?
ReplyDeleteDid I have a good time? Whats the drink of the day, I could use one...
Well without the sun screen I'd burn the girls anyhow.
Hello!!! *waves*I'm here! I made it. Just got caught up with Costas at the bar *winks*. Ariadne and Ford are one their way. It took me a while to find them. You know Ariadne has to return to Sudan so they're making the most of their time together. What's everyone drinking?
ReplyDeleteWelcome Georgie, it's great to see yoou.
Delete(OK let me into your secret - can whisper if you like - HOW did you get your picture here, I've tried and have never been able to suss it out!) Anyhow, you look great. What am I drinking? Well in the absence of mead, ouzo will be just fine! :)
I must have had too much ouzo. I could have sworn your picture appeared in the actual comment and I couldn't work out how you did it. I'm losing it...I'm losing it...
DeleteHi Georgie! I'm drinking whatever that hunky Oliver pours. lol! I'm not picky.
DeleteGive me a hug Hywela! Isn't it glorious here. You can really let your hair down and in more ways than one, if you know what I mean. Our special guests are strolling up from the beach. They're so in love. Ford told me it was the best decision he ever made to follow Ariadne here. Anyway, I need a drink! Ouzo for everyone please and a mezze platter. Come her ladies let's take a selfie of us all like Ellen did at the Oscars! SMILE.
ReplyDeleteHey there, Georgie girl.
ReplyDeleteLOL loved that song. *Waving frantically*
I'm grinning for the selfie, not laughing at you, Lyn. Have some more Ouzo sweetie...and SMILE!
Hi there, I'm Ariadne and this is Ford. We are so happy to be here with you guys.
ReplyDeleteQuick Ari and Ford, get in here. I want you in the photo too. Say CHEESE. Awesome! I'm posting this to Facebook.
The food looks good, but I need the eye candy (Ford) and a special drink with the weather we're having here! Terrible! Glad I am inside and reading! Enjoy the Roast and Toast with all the amazing authors! Doctors Behind Borders sounds intriguing, Georgie!
ReplyDeleteI will have some shrimp please!
Thanks!
Rebecca

Uh oh! Rebecca aka Becky is here. That can only mean trouble. ROFL! Hey, you wanna sneak off with Mary and check out the nudie beach. We can hide behind Mac's giant umbrella. lol!
DeleteShrimp coming up, especially for Rebecca. Great to see you - so glad you could join us!
ReplyDeleteHUGS Georgie, I'm so glad you brought Ariadne and Ford with you. And what a gorgeous 'Selfie'. Isn't modern technology fantastic! And isn't Ford just ooooooooh, goregous!
ReplyDeleteLadies! Ladies! Calm down. (Ford winks). I'm flattered. But please no one faint on me other wise I'll be forced to give you mouth to mouth.
ReplyDelete*Ariadne giggles*
How's the shrimp Rebecca? Here I'll pour you a crisp glass of retsina.
Hey, Melissa. Come on over and soak up the beautiful view and not only of the beach. We've got a couple of doctors here who can examine you if you like. Those elliptical machines can be hazardous!! :)
ReplyDeleteOuzo and shrimp. Yum. Great idea, Rebecca. Oh, Ford. I'm willing to help practice mouth to mouth with you. For science, mind you.
ReplyDeleteOh Ford,- look what you've done to me- I can't even spell gorgeous! It's been a long time since I did a First Aid course, do you think you could refresh me on the mouth to mouth procedure?
ReplyDeleteWhere's the shrimp? Save me some. Oh Ford, can you convince your Georgie to give us an excerpt? Now that the working crowd is arriving, we need to grab them in!!! Ouzo, doesn't it taste like licorice? What other drinks are there? MMmmmm shrimp is great. Oliver has outdone himself again! Now don't that beat all. There's Gerard Butler, and he looks almost as good as in 300! (Lyn, and Mary eye each other as Lyn trips Mary with her size 16's feet. And Mary races her to Gerard.) Ford will never be mine! If I can't have Ford I want Gerard!!!!! CRASH, (who wins?)
ReplyDeleteMary, whatever happened to the Duke? Lyn grins as Mary blushes furiously at Gerard's expression of curiosity.
ReplyDeleteIt's OK, Aradne, we all know Ford's heart belongs to you but you can't blame us for flirting he's so amazing! Yes, it would be lovely if you could persuade Georgie to give us another snippet!
Shrimp, hunks, surf, sand, sun and umbrella drinks. What could be better?
ReplyDeleteGerard Butler would help!
DeleteMaybe another excerpt would make me feel better too!
DeleteAriadne, sweetheart where is Georgie girl. She's been missing in action for a while.
ReplyDelete(Ariadne scans the bar) There she is smooching with Costa the barman! Georgie! Get your butt over here.
Sorry guys. Ahem was just conducting some research for my next book. SO I hear you want a snippet from the book. I know just the one too. Ford and Ariadne's first kiss!
(Ariadne blushes)
So here it is. Then I'm off to the Nudie Beach with the gals!
ReplyDelete“The slight parting of her plump lips sent a jolt through his system he couldn’t ignore. Even if he had been held at gunpoint, nothing would have stopped him from tasting those lips before he copped a bullet in the head. He leaned in and feathered his lips over hers. They were swollen, soft and tasted of salty tears. They parted further, tempting him to take more.
It undid him. Like a raging bull released from his bucking chute he plunged in, his lips moulding with hers as his tongue invaded her mouth. The little moans that reverberated at the back of her throat vibrated into his mouth and through his system, fuelling his passion. His hand moved up to her face and held it, his fingers splayed out across her cheek, his thumb caressing her chin as he gorged on that sweet, delicious mouth like it was his last meal.”
Ooooooh! That Ariadne is one lucky girl! Thank you so much Georgie - I'll have to say goodnight now as it's 1 a.m this side of the pond but I'll check back tomorrow to see what I've missed!
ReplyDeletePretty book cover. Sounds really good. Such yummy food. I would love exotic iced tea. Sure is pretty here. Think I will stay and watch the sunrise come up.

Good night Hywela! Sweet dreams. Catch you tomorrow where the party continues!
ReplyDeleteThanks Katsrus! Would love for you to join us. I'm sure Oliver could find us another chair. We may not even need it as I can hear the band tuning up. Are you guys up for some dancing!!!!
Where have Lily and Rebecca got too. Don't tell me they've gone to the nudie beach without me?
ReplyDeleteThey left me too! Oh well, lets sneak there ourselves Georgie. By all be back after our evening out on the beach...Who wants to go to the nudie beach!!! Skinnydipping, YAY!!
ReplyDeleteSummertime madness! Then lets go clubbing. Ariadne and Ford told me about this hot club nearby where we can dance up a storm. :)
ReplyDeleteAnother day another hunk - I mean sunrise. Wait for me Georgie and Mary - hi Sue, if we hurry we can catch them up!
ReplyDeleteI'm right behind you Hywela. The sunrise is beautiful.

Good morning girls! Oliver is so sweet. He made me a much needed Greek coffee. I must of looked a bit under the weather after our partying last night.
ReplyDeleteJust ran into Ariadne and Ford watching the sunrise. They're sad this morning becuase Ariadne has to return to Sudan to complete her deployment with Medecines Sans Frontiers and Ford is heading back to the US. He's worried. Sudan is not safe. Here's another excerpt from Doctors Beyond Borders:
“Procrastination may be the thief of time but for Ariadne, it allowed her to stay wrapped in Ford’s arms. She couldn’t bear to let him go and was making up for the weeks she had kept him at arm’s length in Sudan. But time waits for no man and this was the day of departure from their idyllic interlude.
They held each other and kissed at the airport. There was an overwhelming sadness that seeped through that kiss. Ford cupped her face in his hands and gazed at her, his expression naked with love. She pressed the heel of her hand to her heart as she watched him walk away. Tears rolled down her cheeks, like rain on a glass pane. She had never given herself away so completely.
A wave of panic rose inside her when he disappeared from her vision, stifling her breath. He said he was coming back for her. He said he loved her. She had to believe it was true. She had to.”
Thank you Hywela, Mackenzie, Lilly, Mary, AJ and Melissa for a ripper of a party. You gals sure know how to have fun! Ariadne and Ford were so pleased to be part of the celebrations too.
ReplyDeleteUntil next time...MWAH xxx

Well I thought I commented - must have been all the sun and talk of nude beaches that sidetracked me. I missed the party :-( then again I'm exhausted just reading what you gals did.
ReplyDeleteHey Michelle! Got a bit sidetracked myself. We did get up to a lot of mischief. Our little soiree in the sun was awesome. Thanks for stopping by. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Michelle, so glad you could make it - there's still some food and drink left, help yourself!
ReplyDeleteOh we've had such fun with you Georgie, amd thanks for introducing us to Aradne and Ford -- and that last excerpt was heartrending. Beautiful!
Thanks Hywela! I've had such fun. :)
