lease Note:
We don't do reviews or interviews. just virtual parties to promote your book!

As many of you may know, our beloved sister hostess SHARON DONOVAN, tragically passed away on 11th April 2012. We who knew her, loved her, and were inspired by her courage and determination to face head on whatever life threw at her. When she could no longer see to paint she turned to writing and showed her amazing talent in the Inspirational Romance and Romantic Suspense genres, and her story 'Charade Of Hearts' was awarded the coveted Predators and Editors Award in January 2011.

This Blog was a source of great delight to her, she was one of the founder hostesses and she contributed to the fun and silliness in her own original way, and was kind enough to let her unique creation, the hunky butler 'Oliver' join us for our Friday romp and prepare 'virtual breakfast' for the guests on the following morning. It's beyond hard to have to go on without her, but we know that she would have been the first to insist that 'the show must go on.' She is, and will always be with us in spirit.
Sharon, dear friend, we will never forget you.
The Author Roast and Toast is part of the legacy you left us. Let's raise a Toast to you as well as all our guests.

The Hostesses celebrate their own P L Parker's latest release 'The Chalice'

The trip was long and frightening - the lift-off from Cape Canaveral, the G-force of the rocket launch and the nausea attributed to weightlessness. After finally reaching their destination, the women all heave sighs of relief. Space travel just isn’t all that it’s made up to be and besides everything else, the landing had been bumpy and nerve-wracking. The exit panel slides open and the women step hesitantly onto the surface of Mars. Their spacesuits are heavy and awkward even in the decreased gravity field.

Lyn stumbles in her huge gravity boots. “You could’ve picked a better place for a vacation.”

“At least it’s different. Too bad the animals couldn’t come, but I don’t think Nibbie would’ve liked it here.” Mary reaches up to adjust her breathing apparatus. “I don’t think this thing is working. I can’t breathe.”

In slow motion, Patsy floats towards Mary.

“Let me help you.” She flexes her massive arms as she fiddles with the apparatus. “It’s working perfectly. I think your suit is just too tight across your boobs. My arms are feeling pretty cramped too.”

“There’s the space station.” Mary points to a metallic construction in the distance. “Is that Oliver in the window?”

“Probably! He was supposed to be on the earlier transport.” Lyn literally bounds through the air. “This is great!”

Jumping and soaring, the women work their way towards the station. As they near the building, gravity enhancers force them down and they land with a loud thump in a thrashing pile of arms and legs.

Patsy rolls to her back staring out of the face plate. “That could have gone better.”

The space station is unwelcoming and cold, all dirty grays and dull black, amid the wasteland that is Mars.
A computerised voice echoes over their comm systems.

“Ladies! Welcome to the very first space station on Mars to allow visitors.”

A panel slides up opening into a small vestibule. The women scramble in, thankful to be in a stationary structure.

The door slides shut. “We can take off our suits now.”

“Thank goodness” Lyn exclaims. “These things got heavier the moment we stepped in.”

“I’m starving,” Patsy grumps.
“And I’m dying of thirst,” Mary chimes in.

When the suits are divested, the door to the interior slides open. They enter—and stare!

“Look at all these hunks!” Mary literally drools as she gazes at the roomful of male bodies. “Who needs food or drink with all these Man Candies!”

Patsy’s slack mouth pops shut. “For once I have to agree with you. Look at those muscles!”
“Why just men?” The question gives them all pause. Why were there all just men?

Oliver flashes those pearly whites.

The few women who came as workers couldn’t take the isolation. They went home. What we have here is a group of hard working, hard fighting, lonely males!

“Oh my!” Lyn fans her face. “We’re all alone with a group of testosterone charged males?”
“And that’s a problem?” Patsy strides toward the waiting men. “This is a single woman’s dream!”
“I didn’t know you were single!” Lyn looks confused. “I thought you were married.”

“I am,” Patsy grins. “But I promise not to tell if you don’t?” She stops before a blonde bodybuilder running her fingers lightly up his chest. “Could you teach my husband how to get these?”

“I think my husband would use a little of that too!” Mary follows Patsy’s lead. “This is just too good to be true.”

“We’ve been waiting for you.” A Gannicus lookalike motions them to a bench near a table. “We’re a little short on fancy foods but there’s plenty of what we have.”

The Mars workers had done their best. Canned meats, freeze-dried vegetables, microwave biscuits and shortcake with reconstituted strawberries for dessert. And to top it off, beer and ale in a myriad of labels.
Lyn leans back, braces her feet on the table and pops a lid. “This is just the best!”

“You’re telling me.” Mary grabs a beer. “Beer and hunky men! Life is good.”
Patsy loads a food tray. “Enjoy it while we can.  Reality awaits.”

And the reality is that we're here to celebrate our sister hostess Patsy's great new release, THE CHALICE! Without further ado, let's find out more about this fantastic futuristic romance!

 Blurb for The Chalice:

Decimated by the savage Deg’Nara and teetering on the brink of extinction, the last surviving males of the once great Chiagan-Se embark on a quest to salvage what is left of their civilization. They send their remaining seeker ships into the void, searching for genetically compatible females. Time is running out, but in the far reaches of the universe, on an obscure and primitive planet, a match is discovered.

One thousand panic-stricken women awaken two hundred years in the future, captives aboard an unmanned alien spacecraft bound for parts unknown! How had they gotten there and why?

The males thought they came willingly. The females believed they’d been kidnapped. Full of hopeful expectation, the Chiagan-Se prepare for the arrival of their new mates. Terrified and furious at the inexplicable abduction, the women prepare for combat! And when the two sides meet, the battle commences.

Excerpt:
He moved not a muscle, merely watched her as she drew near, glistening silver eyes alight with anticipation. He licked his lower lip, lips stretching in a wisp of a smile. The sparkling gaze deepened, the massive chest expanded as he inhaled.

He was superb. A flawless sculpture of perfect manhood. Like a Greek statute carved from ivory granite. In that moment, she totally understood Hanna’s reaction to Mordaq. Being near Tegan felt like being plugged into an electrical outlet and ignited by a shower of burning sparks.

She rounded the table, so close she could feel the pulsating waves of scorching heat emanating from every pore of his great body. His height was such, even sitting, they were almost at eye level.

She studied him carefully, examining each separate feature, from the snow white hair loosened now from the braids he normally wore, the high, intelligent forehead, the silver-blue eyes, slightly arched nose, sculpted lips and firm chin. All taken together, there was nothing effeminate about his looks, but he was beautiful all the same. And the fangs—well, they were just another part of him, an acceptable one now that she knew better.

Her eyes moved lower, assessing. Strong neck and wide shoulders rippled with muscle. Biceps and triceps that would make Mr. Universe jealous. Brawny tattooed pecs emphasized the six-pack abs of his trim waistline. A Greek sculpture indeed!
And then—even lower.

She jerked her gaze upwards. This is a catch and release fishing trip. She wasn’t here for the kill.

But no reason not to make him wonder!

He calmly returned her gaze. A single brow arched. “You. Like?”

“Oh yeah,” she grinned in appreciation. “I like a lot.”
Who wouldn’t? Maybe a damn fool or someone who hated chocolate! But not this girl! No, sirree!

“Stay?” he asked, his tone wistful.

She heaved a sigh. “No,” she shook her head reluctantly. She’d already moved faster than she’d expected to and she wasn’t going to ruin it now. One step at a time.

“Soon,” she said, backing out of reach.
She fled towards the exit, hands gliding over the control panel. The door slid open. She stepped out, turning to look one last time.

He stood up, the thin cloth falling to the floor. Grinning outright, he posed, granting her the full benefit of his gloriously nude form.
Damn him! The tables had turned. He became the hunter and she the prey.
