Black Bear Cabin |
Each of the four hostesses are dressed in long velvet capes lined for warmth, Sharon in burgundy robe, Lyn in a deep blue and AJ in gold, to Mary’s in Emerald. All four have hoods up to keep their hair nice. They are headed for a cabin in the woods and it’s starting to get dark.
Howls and hoots of various night creatures begin to sound. Today the four hostesses of the Author Roast and Toast will hold a celebration roast for Rebecca Ryals Russell and her wonderful new story ODESSA.
Look out girls!” Sharon screeches and a sudden cacophony of disturbed wild things erupts from the surrounding woods. “Was that a zombie???” Her voice nearly hysterical with fear Sharon grabs Mary’s hand and holds on for dear life.
“Sharon it was only a r-r-aabbiittt!”
"Heck that was a zombie Sharon!”
“Sharon it was only a r-r-aabbiittt!”
"Heck that was a zombie Sharon!”
Mary holds her Emerald green cape closed a bit tighter. “Let’s get there it’s kinda creepy out here. AJ, hurry up, there are faeries, elves, wood nymphs, and the lake here is boiling with movement. If we lose you, it could be hard to get you back. Is that a sea monster of some kind? Look at that it has horns AAAaaaaaaahhhh!!”
Mary never saw a sea monster and her sudden scream scares AJ, who trips over a large rock and then falls onto Sharon’s butt. “I don’t think I could stay any closer.” She extricates herself from Sharon’s cushy, round, pillow butt.
“Holey moley,” Lyn’s eyes pop out as she notices that AJ’s hood has fallen off. Coils of fuzzy hair blast from her head as they are released from confinement. “Darn!” AJ tries to put her hood back onto her head.
“Anybody got something I can try to tame this mop with?” AJ asks with desperation in her voice. “I thought the hood would do it, but the force of the fuzz is too great.” She sighs.
“Well I have this jar of lard.” Lyn offers. She walks over to AJ and trips in her pointy toed shoes.
“Looks like your shoes are too tight Lyn.” AJ notices how Lyn totters on her heels and the tight shoes have already made her feet swell. “I think you need to go barefoot dear. Otherwise you’ll break you neck.” Lyn a bit annoyed that the shoes planned to wear never showed up with her outfit begins to slop lard onto AJ’s head to glue her hair down. “Stop, I’m gonna smell like dead meat!” AJ pushes Lyn. “What are you doing with lard anyways?
“Popcorn, Oliver makes the best popcorn, but he uses a bit of lard.” Lyn winks at Mary who is trying not to laugh. Lard head hmmmm…"
All of a sudden a large dragon with multi colored shiny scales, a large tail and brilliant silver eyes, lands in front of them. It blows a scorching stream of fire from it’s jaw of gleaming, sharp, teeth.
All four hostess’s scream at the top of their lungs.
“AAAAAHHAHAHAHAHAA!”
Mary stops screaming long enough to notice Oliver standing next to the dragon. He is dressed in black with a black cape and a sharp saber at his side. He shakes his head and points to the cabin. The dragon retreats to the top of a huge cliff behind them and the girls enter the cabin.
The girls calm down and take in the rustic cabin. A fire in the fireplace glows and crackles. Comfortable chairs are scattered willy nilly around the inviting room.
Tables of food sit in one corner. Roasted meats of all kinds from beef and goat, to Venison, and even Bison, swim in fragrant juices.
The table is dwarfed by a huge dragon shaped cake. Oliver simmers the sweet sauce of his special dish, Cherries Jubillee. Bags of marshmallows wait to be crisped by Dragons fire.
One table on the other side of the room is devoted to flaming drinks of all kinds. Who ever heard of a Flaming Hurley! They watch as Oliver adds the rum to a Flaming Angel cake and lights it. Blue flames dance on the top and a delicious odor fills the air as it blazes on top of sweet apricot sauce.
Suddenly Rebecca enters the door. She is dressed in a beautiful white cloak and tosses the hood back shaking her hair as it falls perfectly into place. Underneath she is dressed in soft white gown that matches the others. The place is starting to jump with guests of all kinds!
Lyn helps people and creatures as they start to arrive. Mary stashes cloaks by tossing them onto a bed in a back room. Tami directs people to the refreshments and Sharon announces as the roast begins and people settle into chairs around the large room..
“Grab your books and get them signed everyone and welcome to our roast. Today Rebecca Ryals Russell celebrates the release of her new novel ODESSA. Now be aware there has been trouble with some rogue zombies. The faery guard has sent out its best elves to keep them away.
Oh and the guy collecting a door charge is just a troll and he is not an invited guest. If you come upon him holler for Oliver!
Now! Everyone enjoy yourself, and before you go you are welcome to a dragon ride. I hear he’s tame.”
Oliver nods and pumps his biceps with a sexy smile.Oh and the guy collecting a door charge is just a troll and he is not an invited guest. If you come upon him holler for Oliver!
Now! Everyone enjoy yourself, and before you go you are welcome to a dragon ride. I hear he’s tame.”
Sharon chuckles and goes on. “We hope you have a wonderful time at our party and there is a special prize for the person who helps us to catch the Tree Monster. If you can tell us where he’s hiding you can win a copy of Rebecca’s book!
She lives in a Victorian house on five acres in North Central Florida with her family. She also runs a Vacation Rental Log House on the property (Florida Black Bear Cabin: http://flablackbearcabin.com/)
It was in this cabin she wrote Odessa within 6 months, after thinking about it for 30 years, but never having the time to commit it to paper.
A fourth generation Floridian, she has lived all over the state except the Panhandle.
The daughter of an Elementary school principal dad and school secretary mom, for fourteen years she taught Middle Grades, preferring English and Creative Writing. She had several students’ works published in anthologies as well as several of her own stories, poems and photographs.
Main interests include her four children, ages 22, 19, 16, 11 and Irish hubby of 35 years.
She enjoys spending time writing, drawing, going to movies and reading. Her favorite pastimes are sitting on the wicker porch swing on a chilly Autumn evening with her husband and usually a kid or two, drinking a beer and eating mixed nuts while chatting about anything and everything, or discussing philosophy and religion with her 16-year-old son over pizza.
Myrna Ashlin Watts is a high school Senior in Jacksonville, Fl when she is transported to a bizarre and primal planet corrupted by demon-dragons. And they want her DEAD. Her problem is, she has been recruited to kill them, too.She enjoys spending time writing, drawing, going to movies and reading. Her favorite pastimes are sitting on the wicker porch swing on a chilly Autumn evening with her husband and usually a kid or two, drinking a beer and eating mixed nuts while chatting about anything and everything, or discussing philosophy and religion with her 16-year-old son over pizza.
Reluctantly, and knowing it is her only way to get back home, she agrees to lead an army of six teens called The Vigorios- battling dragons and monsters while crossing swamps and mountains, forests and seas.
She wrangles with mental scars of a demon attack when she was 16 and receiving a vision of those same demons killing her brother 2 years later, when three very different men join her quest—a seasoned demon/dragon-slayer who irritates but beguiles her, a tender and sweet mentor in whom she trusts completely and a roguishly handsome Scientist who sets her senses aflame. How is she expected to lead the others and keep everyone safe with so much inner turmoil? Whom can she trust, if anyone, even herself? How can anyone expect her to be a leader? Much less one who leads an army of kids in a Holy battle?
Will love and lust, jealousy, greed, deceit and distrust break the delicate tie that binds these teen warriors called The Vigorios? Can a troupe of teens help the Seraphym finally defeat the massive empire of evil dominated for eons by the demon-dragons of Dracwald?

EXCERPT from Chapter One I floated on wings of silence like a piece of driftwood at sea. Colored gases swirled around me like silk scarves, brushing against my bare arms and legs. It delighted my senses and tingled nerve endings. For as far as I could see, a myriad of colors swam and twirled dipping and rolling around particles of dark matter and glittering specs of sunbeams in miniature cosmos.
Was this a dream? I didn’t remember falling sleep. In fact, I didn’t remember anything at all. Soft singing and the sharp but pleasant ringing of bells echoed around me. I opened my eyes—had they been shut? Thousands of glimmering radiant beings hovered in the rainbow cosmic cloud. So beautiful. So peaceful. My eyes drifted shut.
“Mind the signs, Myrna,” echoed in my skull and repeated over and over in millions of separate voices in unison. “Mind the signs…Mind the signs ….”
I shoved the covers off with my feet and stood, stretching. The house was unusually quiet. Must be the first up. After showering I listened while I dressed. Still no sounds. I went to the kitchen. No one. This was not like my parents to sleep in, especially later than me. I went to their room.
“Mom,” I called, softly pushing on the door which was slightly ajar. “Dad? Anyone up? Hey, sleepy heads….” The room was empty. The bed was made. My stomach flip-flopped. Marcy’s room was next. I padded down the hall then pushed on the half-opened door.
“You’ll be late….” I didn’t finish because no one was there to hear me. Her room was immaculate—which never happened—and empty. Panic pricked my brain like a nest of wasps. My mind was a jumble of anger and fear. People don’t just disappear. Where are they? What happened to them? I ran to Jarrod’s room and found the same thing. I was alone. Sliding down the wall I crumpled in a heap on the carpet.
“Where did you all go without me?” I shrieked at the ceiling, tears burning my eyes. “Where is everyone?” I rose and ran to the foyer, sliding on the white tiles in my socks. Swiping at my wet face with the back of my hand I gasped a shuddering breath. And flung open the front door and looked out. The slam rattled the dishes in the kitchen cabinets like bones in a closet as I threw it shut. My heart pounded against my ribs. This isn’t possible. I’m still dreaming. The deadbolt lock thudded with a satisfying crunch as I twisted the key. I couldn’t catch my breath. My mind reeled with the impossible unreality of what I had seen. There were no dragons flying over Jacksonville. Or walking down the sidewalk dressed like people. But these had been people, hadn’t they? So why had I seen horns and tails? I ran back to my room. Crouching, in the corner behind my bed my head ached from crying and fear. My room was still dark and shadows wavered and squirmed across the walls like living shades. I shut my eyes and slid my hands across my ears to shut out the world. I had to shut out this world that was not mine.

Welcome to your special celebration Roast, Rebecca. Congratulations on the release of 'Odessa' last week, we hope it will be a fantastic success for you and that you'll enjoy the party we've put on for you.
ReplyDeleteSorry I'm late. I was preparing for a presentation I'm giving Sunday at a Writers' Conference. I had to select just the right jewelry (long sword earrings combined with a short dragon necklace and long phoenix necklace--perfect for my story). And then the colorful tie-dye skirt needed a peasant top with crochet.
ReplyDeleteBut, I'm here now. I see there's still plenty of dragonmeat to munch on. I'll wander around a bit and see who all's here. Have fun!
Hello, Rebecca, and may I say how lovely you look.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the presentation, sounds very intersting, and your earrings and necklaces sound beautiful, I love fantasy jewellery myself and have a lovely little unicorn pendant which is one of my favourites.
Rebecca what a fun roast! With all of the pictures and wonderful dialogue between the guests, I'm there, running to the cabin with everyone.
ReplyDeleteYour book sounds like a great read, one I'll be adding to my growing list. Thank you for inviting me to your roast...it's a lovely party!
kaydeeroyal at msn dot com
I love this scary place. Gimme a Flaming something. I never know there were so many of them!
ReplyDeleteWhat is that huge thing Oliver is cooking over an open fire. Wait, I don't think I wanna know.
Did you check out the werewolf at the door. What is he a bouncer or somethin'?
And a congratulations on the release of your wonderful new story.
Oh I love that name Kay Dee. Welcome to the Author Roast and Toast. Where we grill you to your specifications!
ReplyDeleteLet's start the party. Mary looks around at the fearsome lot that are buying Rebecca's books like hot cakes!!! Wow!!!
Kay Dee, thanks for coming. Watch out the Vamps using the back bedroom. Mary, I hope you're prepared to clean up their mess later.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, ladies, I didn't know I'd changed my handle to Maryanne Miller, but...you might want to check your email.
Rebecca, I'll clean the mess. Changed name!! LOL
ReplyDeleteSisters, it's raining dragons and fairies out there! I'm all drenched. Oliver, yes, a flaming cocktail to chase the chill.
ReplyDeleteRebecca, welcome to your roast. Some kind of spooky, but you do indeed look lovely. Congratulations on 'Odessa, sounds like a must read. Enjoy the party.
Hi Kay Dee, cool name.
ReplyDeleteCongrats, Rebecca! I LOVE the cover of your book. I'd love to win a copy. Please enter me.
ReplyDeletekhashway(at)hotmail(dot)com
Rebecca, tell us about your characters and the storyline behind Odessa
ReplyDeleteKisses, Sharon, Lyn, Mary and AJ, my love pets. Flaming drinks for all.
ReplyDeleteRebecca, my sweet young thing! You are the loveliest of them all. Give us a kiss.
ReplyDeleteKay Dee, sweet thing, what can Oliver getcha to drink?
ReplyDeleteOliver you're such a flirt.
ReplyDeleteHow old are you dear friend??
I like the dragon, he's so huge!!!
Does he have a name Rebecca?
Where did he come from?
Can you tell us more about the story? And the dragon!!!
Oh, the dragons have names all right, but if I tell you they'll have to kill you -- they're demons, you see. That's why Myrna and her friends must hunt and kill them. But first they have to journey across the monster-filled planet of Dracwald -- and survive, of course, to reach the Majikals' island of Caldelub. Once there, they'll train for the final battle between Seraphym and Demons. But that's a few books away yet.
ReplyDeleteKelly, thanks for stopping by. I'll be sure you get into the contest. If you go to my main website today, you can enter there as well for a big giveaway plus book. But today's the last day. http://rryalsrussell.com/blog
ReplyDeleteYum, Oliver sure knows how to heat up a girl with these flaming drinks. And that dragon cake is delicious. Thanks for baking it, Oliver.
ReplyDeleteWhat's that noise down the hall? Are the Vamps still in that back bedroom? And who's on the screened porch? Are those bats out there?
This is my first Roast. Oh my, it's so much fun. The meal is wonderful, as are the gracious hostesses. And Rebecca, you're looking lovely.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with Odessa.
I think I'll have to come for more of these Roasts.
Goodbye all.
::Waves shyly at Oliver::
Hello again everyone *Lyn waves at all the guests, and blows a kiss to Oliver*
ReplyDeleteSorry I disappeared for a while - I just had to have a ride on that gorgeous dragon - he's not really one of the bad dragons - he's standing guard now to keep those away.
Sorry about the name change, Rebecca - some strange faery enchantment going on here I think. It wouldn't be the first time some thing weird happened at one of our Roasts - apologies, you're still your real self, honest!
Oh Woodlandsoul! We love having new guests! Stay awhile and enjoy the food and drinks - there's plenty for all!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it great fun to be here, Rebecca. I did two roasts already and I'm doing another June 17th. These ladies are such fun and Oliver, well what can I say about Oliver, he's a dreamboat and makes the most delicious food and martinis. Your party is excellent my dear. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed mine.
ReplyDeleteYour party looks great especially those flaming drinks--I'll take two-one for each hand. Have a great time at your party and congrats on your release!
ReplyDeleteHi Roseanne, so glad you could make Rebecca's party - and thanks so much for the kind words!
ReplyDeleteHi Jenna
ReplyDeleteThanks so mcuh for stopping by, so glad you could attend Rebecca's party. enjoy your 'flaming' drinks!
You know, Rebecca, I haven't seen the other sister-hostesses for a while. You don't think the vamps got them do you? Oh no, I hope not.
ReplyDeleteAnyone volunteer to come with me to check the back bedroom?
(or do you just want to read us another excerpt,Rebecca?)
Phew! For a minute I didn't feel quite right, but I'm back to normal now, thanks to Lyn. Actually, Lyn, you rode Glynda. She's a Wyvern and they are good. So you got lucky. If it had been Belial, YOU would have been roasted and toasted--crunchy and munchy.
ReplyDeleteRoseanne and Woodlandsoul, So good of you to stop by and enjoy a drink or two. Hope the dragon haunch agrees with you. Did you have a bit of cake? Make sure you stop back for a ride on Glynda the Wyvern.
ReplyDeleteOh, thank goodness, Rebecca. I would have hated to have been a dragon's lunch - although I might have been a bit tough - all that horse riding muscle, LOL!
ReplyDeleteEXCUSE ME!!! a girl. Goes to take care of 'lady' business and gets her mop...I mean hair stuck in a tree for hours and NO ONE checks on her? For shame girls !!!
ReplyDeleteWelcome Rebecca. I won't hold my hair against you.
ReplyDeleteOops - sorry AJ - never thought to look for you in a tree - mind you with hair like that... I shoulda known! LOL Hold on a moment sister dear, while I remove these bluebirds - ooh and a sparrow!
ReplyDeleteThat's better!
AS for holding your hair agains poor Rebecca - no, please, don't hold it against anyone, not till you're sure there are no birds left in it, anyway! :)
Ladies, more flaming drinks all around. A double for you, Jenna love.
ReplyDeleteSay now that dragon took me deep into the dark forest, what none of you missed me or mentioned me!
ReplyDeleteSharon waves to newcomers, Jenna and Woodlandsoul. Roseanne, how great to see you again. Come, let's grab one of Oliver's flaming drinks and some cake.
ReplyDeleteWell no nice dragon ride for me. My magic machine decided it didn't want me to play so it shut me down!
ReplyDeleteCurses to these terrible waves of electricity that carry message. They dumped me outta the party and only just now let me back!
It's not fair Sharon gets a hot dragon and me I get lost!!
You got stuck by your hair AJ? I got kicked out!!!
ReplyDeleteOliver where were you when I needed you. The stun gun couldn't help me here!
So tell me now. What's so special about a Wyvern?? What is it?? Is it looking at me?? You said it won't eat me...Thank God. I don't wanna be dinner!
Look at the colony of ants coming outta that mop of hair. Wow!
Lyn hastily swallows another piece of dragon cake, swallows a gulp of flaming liquer and breaths out flames like a dragon. *oh dear*
ReplyDeleteShe waves to the guests before running and throwing her arms around her sister hostesses.
AJ, Sharon, Mary! Thank goodness you're all ok and we're all together again. Sharon - course we missed you - I offered to go search the spare bedroom in case you'd been waylaid by a vampire, but no-one would come with me to carry the candle. Poor AJ got her hair caught up in a tree and Mary, these new fangled magical machines just can't be trusted you know, here have another flaming wotzit to calm your nerves!
group hug all around, my sisters. That was some thunder storm, knocked out power and everything. But let's ask Rebecca where she got thee idea for Odessa, and, yes, Oliver, keep the flaming cocktails a coming
ReplyDeleteI see you're still having a wonderful time. Thought I'd stop back for another of those flaming drinks. Delicious! And that cake, yum. This is not the way to lose weight, I can tell you that. Rebecca it's so nice to see you again. I met Rebecca personally last Nov. In fact, she graciously allowed us to stay at that beautiful cabin pictured here. We had a wonderful time. We also got to meet two other authors. It was such fun and I wish we could do it again.
ReplyDeleteIsn't Rebecca's hat great, everyone? That's her trademark.
Rebecca, I wish you great success with your book. Maybe the next Harry Potter. It sounds terrific. I'm off now, but wanted to wish you the best.
Lyn, sweetie, did you say vamps! Quick, Oliver, the garlic
ReplyDeleteHey, Lyn did you look at AJ? The frizz on her head is starting to cover the rest of her body. Hairy arms, legs, face!Shee'''s a werewolf. And Sharon, look at Sharon, she's got hooves! She's the vampire, a nice one though. And Lyn what happened to your feet, are those hooves? Horns??? A tail. And me I seem to be changing into a AAAAAHHHH! Help! Someone put a hex on us!!!! HELP ME PLEASE HELP ME!!! .
ReplyDeleteHi again Roseanne, mmmmmm, the cake and flaming drinks are very addictive aren't they, LOL.
ReplyDeleteI envy you staying at Rebecca's cabin, it looks wonderful, a fantastic writing retreat, and just the sort of place I love!
Yes, I was admiring Rebecca's hat, no wonder she was keen to get her hood down and put that hat back on, it's beautiful and it suits her so well!
Sharon, Rebecca said there might be vamps in the back bedroom but I haven't dared look! Oliver went round and laid a trail of garlic everywhere, as soon as the word 'vampire' was mentioned!
ReplyDeleteAaaaargh! Calm down now Mary, vampires don't have hooves!
ReplyDeleteI rather like mine - I do believe I'm turning into a unicorn! Please tell me I only have one horn and not two!
I can never be sure if there are birds or not. Darn.
ReplyDeleteSorry Sharon. They left me in the trees. Birds picking at my........hmm couldn't be brains. Maybe hair? Scalp? I missed ya though.
ReplyDeleteGlad ur back Mary!!
ReplyDeleteIt's ants? I thought it was little birdies nipping at my head.
ReplyDeleteMary tugs at Lyn's leg. "Hey Sharon, down here." I've been turned into a female troll! I'm ugly!!! Oh Nooooo!
ReplyDeleteOne horn, yes, yes, if I touch the unicorn horn! Help. Mary wakes up, Whoh, What a bad dream I just had. Dozed off there, very strange...
I need a group hug again! And Rebecca too!
Yes, I was in another world. Now I'm back. Ants? What ants? TEEHEE!
ReplyDeleteFleas maybe? Please no fleas!
Roseanne. Didn't you know once the cake is cut all the calories leak out?
ReplyDeleteIt's a flea and ant war. I knew I had felt it before. I need re dust of a unicorn horn to rid myself of this plague.
ReplyDeletePhew glad you were only dreaming Mary!
ReplyDeleteGroup hug everyone!
Yes, quick touch my uncicorn horn, AJ!
Now about this orn, am I, or aren't I. Is this still my dream, or was it Mary's? I'm confused!
Where am I? who am I? what am I?
ReplyDeleteFleas, ants, what about tics???Ugh!
Where is a good unicorn when you need one?
ReplyDeleteThor can help!!
Yup! Rebecca, so where did the idea for your story come from. Any characters modeled after people you know?
Mary, thank God you're safwe. hugs my sister
ReplyDeleteI can always count on my sister hostess's to worry about me!

This is so much fun...what a paaarty this is. And such beautiful entertainment. Wow! Great job and thanks for hosting such a unique experience.
ReplyDeleteGreat roast, Rebecca. Drat, I should know better than to read this blog when I'm hungry! LOL Now I'm starving. Or think I am. Actually, I could hibernate at Black Bear Cabin for quite a while.
ReplyDeleteSharron, dont mess with my hair.
ReplyDeleteA ray of sunshine casts its warm glow and lingers over the various guests and hostesses lying in heaps on chairs, couches and in front of the log fire.
ReplyDeleteLyn wakes nnd stretches, casts her eyes over Sharon, Mary and AJ. Thank goodness, Sharon's as warm as toast, no sign of fangs Mry's snoring happily and AJ is blissfully asleep, unaware a couple of robins have set up home in her hair.
She slaps her hand to her forehead. Phew! No horn - and no dropped 'h's either (see Lyn's previous post, LOL)
Karen and Caroline, welcome to the roast and for your lovely comments (Hope I haven't missefd anyone!)
So nice to see so many folks turning up to help Rebecca celebrate the release of her book - and the party isn't over! I can smell bacon cooking in the kitchen, and Rebecca's laughter floating through the half open door. Oliver's obviously treating her to his special brand of wit and breakfast!
Come on folks - y'all hungry?
Sharon slowly wakes up to the soft cooing of robins nesting in AJ's hair. She chuckles when she notices they are hatching Mary's boobs. They hatch and baby dragons emerge.
ReplyDeleteSharon and Lyn run for dear life through the forest toward the scent of breakfast, wildly waving to Sue, Caroline, Larimor, JQ, . Karen and Muse it Up. Just another Roast and Toasrt.
Rebecca, thank you for being such a delightful guest. What fun to party in the dark forest with dragons and fairies. Best of luck with Odessa!
ReplyDeleteBreakfast is served my pretties. Bacon and eggs, pancakes with freshly tapped maple syrup. Come and get it while it's hot. First heaping platter for Rebecca, here we go then, love.
ReplyDeleteMmmm did someone say breakfast?? I woke up sleepy and hungry. Need lots and lots of coffee. LOL.
ReplyDeleteSue B
katsrus(at)gmail(dot)com
Well what an interesting day so far. Started with the internet yesterday, the car last nite and today we have the stove. If I didn't have bad luck I wouldn't have luck at all!
ReplyDeleteSo what's going on today. No one has hidden any of my body parts. And we have a lot of new guests with flaming drinks in their hands. You gotta question the wisdom of that one, LOL!
Oliver do you need help with the food?? Oh my girls you look as if the cat dragged you in. What happened??
I must say Rebecca that you have been a great guest! I hope everyone is having a great day. The dragons are circling overhead. I see elves and faeries dancing next to a trapped tree monster! I even see some wood nymphs and there is a large troll break dancing over in the corner. What a fun time! Now I think I'll have some of that barbeque chicken Oliver just placed out for lunch! Yummy!
ReplyDeleteRebecca I hope you sell a whole bunch of books and become rich and famous. Then you can say the AR&T girls helped you along! Best of luck and happiness your way. Can I ride the dragon too???
AJ there are moths flying out of your hair. WOW! Cool!!
Hello? Can anyone hear Me? Hellooooo??? I'm up here--on the moon. I went out last night to check on Glynda the Wyvern and got swept away by the Harpies. They've left me on the moon. That's why I couldn't answer your questions.
ReplyDeleteSorry about your hair, LJ. Hope it's okay now. Nothing a little turpentine won't fix, I hope.
I was surprised at all of the late guests who showed up last night. My moon scope let me see all of the comings and goings, but I had to build this communicator before I could send this message.
Odessa is my way of showing teens the evil in the world and encouraging them to do something about it. It was also just fun to write.
Send Glynda back so I can get home, please. It's cold up here and this cape isn't doing much good.
Sorry, AJ, I changed you to LJ if you don't mind. And even if you do...lol What's one letter, more or less. I was at least 50% right 50% of the time.
ReplyDeleteAh, so that's where you are Rebecca! Hope you managed to outwit the harpies, nasty, spiteful creatures they can be!
ReplyDeleteDo we really have to send Glynda back? We've been having such fun flying on her - Oh well, I suppose we'll have to - can't let you stay on the moon forever, off you go Glynda - good wyvern. No sidetracking now!
On a serious note, Odessa sounds like a wonderful way to teach youngsters about good and evil and to enjoy a rattling good story at the same time.
You've been a wonderful, fun guest of honour, Rebbecca, thank you so much, hope you've enjoyed it as much as we have.
Sharon plays Fly Me to the Moon by Frank Sinatra. Then she kisses Glynda good bye and sends her on her way with a parting tear.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun party. Love the dresses and the book sounds intriguing. Would love to read it.
ReplyDeletebeverlysmcclure (at) aol.com
Hi Beverly so glad you enjoyed the party, thanks for coming.
ReplyDeleteYes, Rebecca's book sounds amazing, doesn't it!
Thank you ladies for a wonderful time! I'm off to the Prince's Ball for the evening. Hope his old castle isn't too drafty after being cold on the moon.
ReplyDelete
