As many of you may know, our beloved sister hostess SHARON DONOVAN, tragically passed away on 11th April 2012. We who knew her, loved her, and were inspired by her courage and determination to face head on whatever life threw at her. When she could no longer see to paint she turned to writing and showed her amazing talent in the Inspirational Romance and Romantic Suspense genres, and her story 'Charade Of Hearts' was awarded the coveted Predators and Editors Award in January 2011.

This Blog was a source of great delight to her, she was one of the founder hostesses and she contributed to the fun and silliness in her own original way, and was kind enough to let her unique creation, the hunky butler 'Oliver' join us for our Friday romp and prepare 'virtual breakfast' for the guests on the following morning. It's beyond hard to have to go on without her, but we know that she would have been the first to insist that 'the show must go on.' She is, and will always be with us in spirit.
Sharon, dear friend, we will never forget you.

Winter Wonderland Carnival with Cindy K. Green

WITCHYS WIKKED GRAPHIX
Hello and welcome to The Author Roast and Toast! We are at the winter wonderland carnival to celebrate the release of Snow Kissed by Cindy K. Green.

So come in and spend the day with us while we take you to a place where dreams come true.

Outstretched pine branches capture the snow, flocking the bristly needles with a mist as finely spun as angel hair. The musical carousel spins round and round, the horses proudly prancing with glee. And as the snow swirls about in a flirtatious come hither, the Ferris wheel idles back and forth high in the sky.

Donned as little reindeer, Cuddles and Junior skate on the frozen pond.
The snow bunnies, Sharon, Lyn and Mary, looking oh so festive in white ski jackets with faux fur trimming, set up the buffet in the gazebo. White twinkle lights from the surrounding evergreens bathe the snow in celestial light. A bowl of pink lemonade grace the table, along with mini sausages on flaky croissants, fruit kebabs, corn dogs on silver sticks, and cotton candy in shades of pink, ice blue and mint green. From the dessert table, a heavenly aroma drifts through the gazebo. Sugar cookies, chocolate chips, angel and devil’s food cakes, funnel cakes, hot cocoa, hot apple cider and hot toddies.

And dressed for the weather, Oliver grills gourmet burgers and fries, in his fur hat, galoshes, wool socks and ski boots.

And as the carnival music plays from the old Victrola, a horse drawn sleigh pulls up in the snow, bells jingling. Cindy steps out, dressed as the Snow Princess in her green velvet frock, muff and scarf.

Oliver rushes over to escort her to the gazebo, a roguish grin on his face.

And before we tease your palates with Oliver’s treats, here’s a teaser from Cindy’s book, Snow Kissed, followed by a little about our roastee.

Today is one of those days Logan Reilly wished he’d stayed in bed. Not only does he have to deal with the annoying Winter Wonderland Carnival but his close friend, that whimsical lover of snow, Holly Armstrong, is leaving town forever. The question is why didn’t she tell him and why today, of all days, does he realize she might be more than a friend?

Holly can no longer stay in town knowing the man she loves only sees her as a friend. It’s time to move on; besides she has other career prospects.

As the carnival unfolds, watch God work in amazing ways. Can He change Holly’s mind and make her stay? Can He help Logan see beyond the friendship? Only time can tell.

Excerpt—from the opening scene:

“Just breathe,” Holly whispered to Logan, as she slowly took in a deep whiff. “You smell that?”
He shook his head. “What? Burgers from down the street?”

“No.” She laughed; he could be so dense sometimes. “It’s the first snowfall.” She inhaled another intoxicating aroma of winter air. “It’s coming.”

“And what’s so good about snow? It’s just annoying and inconvenient.” He pulled his arm away and folded them across his lean frame.

“Snow is beautiful…magical.” Her voice came out breathy with the idea of snow making her feel all tingly.

“It’s cold, wet stuff that falls from the sky.”

“Then there are the wonderful clothes: hats, scarves, gloves…”

“…galoshes, wool socks,” he countered.

She continued, not to be undone by his cynicism. “Fresh baked cookies, hot apple cider, hot cocoa, hot toddies…what is a hot toddy?”

He nearly laughed at her, a cute smile building in the corner of his mouth as he shook his head.

“A hot alcoholic drink. You want to come in for some coffee? I just made a pot.”

She shook her head and took in a deep breath before releasing it. “No, remember I’m off to take my snow walk through Meriden.” She tilted her head up at him. “I’ll be at the carnival tonight, working the booth for the church. Of course, you wouldn’t dare show your face there, now would you?”

Pausing, she made a concerted effort to memorize his face, including his subtly uneven eyebrows. This was probably one of the last times they’d be together. A breath hitched in her throat at the thought of never seeing Logan again. They’d shared so many memories over the years: spring picnics at the lake, midnight movies, and disastrous cooking adventures. Life wouldn’t be the same without him.

She should tell him she was leaving town for good. This was the perfect moment. Maybe he would respond by telling her she should stay—stay because he loved her too much to let her go. In my dreams.
“Goodbye, Logan,” was all she could bring herself to say. Lord, help me. It was easier than being disappointed.
“Bye, Holly.” He said the words as he always did—with genuine warmth, when no one else was paying attention, that is. It warmed her heart to hear it. He released a small smile and Holly got caught in his gaze, a little thrill pulsing in her heart.

Logan was rugged—from the clothes he wore to the tough and edgy persona he showed to the world—but his eyes betrayed his softer side. You would have expected him to have black, beady eyes by the way he barked at everyone, but instead he had these deep, soulful eyes in the most brilliant indigo Holly had ever seen on any person, man or woman. She would miss those eyes and these stimulating conversations. Well, she’d miss everything that was Logan Riley.

  1. Hi guys! Love the Winter Wonderland theme! I wish I was in the middle of it all. Oliver looks really handsome but I believe Logan would give him a run for his money! Cindy I loved this book. It was very sweet with very real emotions!

  3. How’s everyone doing this morning? I’m really excited to be here today. A little bit about me:

I’m Cindy K. Green, an author, teacher, maid, mother, wife and accountant. I write for The Wild Rose Press, White Rose Publishing and Champagne Books. I have degrees in history and education and taught middle school up until about five years ago. Now I stay home and homeschool my two boys. I was born in California and now live in North Carolina out in the country about a ½ hour from Raleigh. I’ve been married for almost 15 years (this December). I’m published in several genres: Inspirational, historical, contemporary and suspense. I write young adult and fantasy as well. Those are also the genres I like to read. I spend my (non-existent free time) reading, watching period dramas and doing my best to keep this house one step away from becoming a disaster area. Snow Kissed is my 12th book release.

  4. Hey Ladies (and Oliver too), I love the winter decor. It makes me feel all warm and toasty in my house this morning. I'm very excited about today especially as this is the actual release day for Snow Kissed!

    ReplyDelete
  5. Welcome, Cindy! And congratulations on the release of Snow Kissed! It sounds so delightful and what a wonderful wonderland to celebrate. Can Oliver get you a hot drink or a bite to eat? He's been knocking himself out and has made enough to feed an army!

    ReplyDelete
  6. Mary shakes the snow off of her collar and leaves the goodie table she is helping to set up to go and welcome Cindy. Junior anxiously wags his tail. "I love Cindy's books," He smiles his doggie grin and runs to Cindy.
Noooo, too late Cindy's face has been washed by Junior in his greeting. His slide across the ice and ending up in a mound of snow, now that was funny.
You look beautiful Cindy, that green velvet is just made for you. Welcome to the author roast and toast. Lyn and Sharon will be along as soon as the snowball fight is over. I hope you have a great day. Mary smiles and nods to Oliver, he knows what she wants already. And drops the job of turning burgers to rush to Cindy almost knocking Mary down on his way.

  7. Hi Sharon. Do you think Oliver has enough food here. It looks like a lot of people are stopping by.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Hey, Val! So glad you are here and the first one to boot! How about a hot drink and something to eat? Oliver is ready to serve. Oh Oliver.... Oh, he's dancing with Cindy already! Watch out Cindy, he'll try and steal a snow kiss! Oh, sorry, Junior and Cuddles. I didn't mean to ignore you. Yes, you both look adorable frolicking about in the snow in your antler ears!

  9. Hey Cindy this sounds like a great story. Can't wait to read it.

And I have no idea on the music for dancing in the gazebo. All I hear in my head is I am Sixteen going on Seventeen from The Sound of Music. Somehow I doubt that's it.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Hi Val! Mary greets Val with a big hug and then hugs Beth and Sharon.
Junior and Cuddles are showing off for Cindy.
What's that you say Oliver? I know Cindy looks lovely, stop drooling will you.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Hey Mary and Sharon! Thanks for having me.

Oliver, take it slow; it's been a long time since I've been dancing. And when we're done can you bring me something to eat and drink. I'm famished. Hot cocoa and a cinnamon bun sound perfect.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Hi Beth! How are you? I think the song from the Sound of Music works. ;) They were dancing somewhere around a gazebo weren't they??

Later on I'll share what I was listening to when I wrote the dance scene and share that excerpt.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Hi Mary! Hey, who won the snowball fight? When I left, Lyn was getting bombarded. Best send the mascots or the rescue dogs to get her. LOL Hi, Beth! Cindy, here comes Oliver with your hot cocoa and cinnamon bun and a wicked wink. Must a been some dance. Wink

    ReplyDelete
  14. I like quiet when I write, so maybe it's a soft love story type of song.
    Anyways I am curious too.
Oliver that is the third time you have pushed past me to get closer to Cindy. Calm yourself.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Cindy and friends! Congratulations on your release--I remember this cover, and I still think it's one of the prettiest I've ever seen. The snow graphics are wonderful--even though I'm chilled right now, it's still pretty (I'm chilled when the temp. reaches 70.)I absolutely love Oliver's new hat! Cindy, the excerpt is just great--have a fantastic day at the Author Roast and Toast.Celia

  16. I'll go see if I can save her. Those guests out there are plastering her with snow.
Lyn, oh Lyn, do you need help, no don't throw that. Splatt. Oh shoot, any towels around Oliver?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hi Celia! Isn't it a beautiful cover? It's my favorite to date. :) Thanks for stopping by.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Hi, Celia! Hope you can stay for some food and a drink. Cindy, who did the artwork for Snow Kissed? You have us all in the mood for Christmas!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Celia, is that you? I can't see for all the snow in my face.
Hi and thanks for coming to our party for Cindy.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Hi all, what a georgous post and Oliver looks really hunky in that outfit.

Cindy, your cover is beautiful and your story sound like a wonderful read.

    Best of luck with sales.

    ReplyDelete
  21. A giant snowball rolls down the hill towards the frozen lake.

Just in time Cuddles and Junior appear and nose it back up to A SAFE SOPOT. (Well Junior does the nosing, Cuddles prods it with his horn, trying not to let his reindeer antlers get in the way).

Then a sudden vilent snowstorm erupts as the snowball silently explodes and Lyn shakes violently to try and shake all the snow off herself.

Hi folks, wow, that was some snowball fight! Oliver - sweetie, if you could j-j-just tear yourself away from Cindy for a mmm-moment, I- I- I'm freezing, how about one of your special Cindy inspired h-h- -hot toddies - oooh, I'm glad I'm wearing this icecatwool lined cape!

Cindy, welcome to your roast, I agree about the book cover, it's beautiful. And you look beautiful too, that shade of green set off with white faux fur really suits you"! Val great to see you here too! Hi Beth, and Celia, hope you're enjoying the party.

Mary and Sharon thanks for sending out a rescue party, I certainly needed it!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Ooh, hi Linda, it's a b-b-bit colder than it was in the canyon last week isn't it! Oh here comes Oliver at last with some goodies for us!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hi Cindy! Wonderful winter wonderland. Beautiful scenery and Oliver looks good even with ice sickles oh his nose. My toes are cold, so I believe I shall recline before the cozy hearth with a jolly cup of hot chocolate. Your story looks a treat, but I have not yet had the privilege of reading it.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Hi Linda! Yes a bit different than the canyon, huh? Oh, poor Lyn, all chilled to the bone. Oliver a double hot toddy over here before Lyn freezes to death. Wow, this is some gala already! Cindy, we're all thrilled to help celebrate the release of ?Snow Kissed with you today!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Hi Linda and Beth, watch out don't go out there, they are getting crazy! Lyn got plastered with an exploding snowball! Yes, she's okay, well except for the mascara all over her face.
Lyn let's get that fire going and here for the mascara, a soft towel.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Oh, that's better this double hot toddie's hitting the spot!

Hi Beth, hope that hot chocolate is warming you all the way to your toes.

Yes, our guest of honour, Cindy's book looks lovely doesn't it! Just the thing to put on a Christmas list!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I love that title, "Snow Kissed", does that mean there is kissing going on in the snow?
No Cuddles don't throw that, Oops, sorry Sharon.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I miss snow. NC gets ice not snow. I grew up in Morgantown, WV and it was possible to get snow from October to March.

Never thought I'd miss that place.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hi Beth, get warm and when Oliver's icicles melt, he'll bring you a jolly good cup of hot tea to get the chill out! Why are his lips chapped? Why, he keeps trying to get "Snow Kissed" LOL

    ReplyDelete
  30. Dashing through the snow in a one horse open sleigh,,,la, la. I used to be able to sing. Not any more, but Oliver that's no reason to put a bag over my head.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Sharon--Nicola Martinez created that cover. GORGEOUS, I know. She'd made just about all my covers at TWRP and WRP. This one was exactly what I wanted.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Hey Linda, Lyn and Beth T. It's getting colder here in NC but nothing like the snow scene on the book cover. Thank God! Enjoy the warm treats.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hey Mary--Kissing in Snow Kissed? Hmm, I think there just might be. :D

    ReplyDelete
  34. No, Cuddles, no frozen snowballs in the gazebo! That one slid down my parka. Brrrrr. Oliver, a hot toddy please. Beth, West Virginai isn't all that far from me. I'm in Pittsburgh and we're in for a frigid winter. Penn State already had several inches for their football game.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Isn't it great when a cover artist 'sees into your mind' and plucks out the picture, Cindy. I'm loving this winter magic scenario, even though I was just turned into a human snowball! I agree with Beth, I love snow, and we don't have nearly enough of the proper stuff in the UK.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Beth C--as for snow in NC. I have to admit that I like that we get a little and the boys have fun playing in it for the afternoon (or an hour) until it melts. That's about all I want. But then I am a California girl.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Nicola did all my covers for my white rose books. Isn't it nice when they just get it? A glimpse into your mind and seem to draw from your subconscious on what your vision for the book cover is?

    ReplyDelete
  38. I swear Oliver if you wash my face with snow one more time you'll be singing soprano!
Now back to the kissing. Love stories have to have kissing! Can you tell us about your inspiration for this story?
OLIVER, I swear, you are gonna get it. Men, all big kids.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Did anyone think to being a one horse open sleigh?

    ReplyDelete
  40. The Inspiration for Snow Kissed

Well, this story was originally envisioned for an anthology of short winter stories. The publisher went out of business shortly after release so I rewrote the story, doubled the length giving the characters more depth and sold it to WRP.

I knew I wanted a heroine who loved snow and a hero who hated it. Of course there is no snow as the story opens which infuriates Logan even more over that darn Winter Wonderland Carnival.

    ReplyDelete
  41. No snow at a Winter Carnival, that won't work!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Never fear, Mary. Snow will make an appearance.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! And then maybe everybody will leave me alone long enough to get a word written around here. Probably not though.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Hey Beth - if you take another peek at the post you'll see a TWO horse open sleigh (Oliver arranged it, he never does things by halves!) Oh he's asked me to give him a hand with something - be back in a minute!

    ReplyDelete
  45. LOL Beth T.

That's good. Let it snow. :)

    ReplyDelete
  46. It's only if they are out in the snow that that will work Beth.
Have you considered a hiding place?
Oliver everyone looks parched. Could you please bring them all another round and stop flirting with Cindy.
Sharon, could you get him going. I'd have hired Brad Pitt if I'd known.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Say, maybe I'll take off in that two horse open sleigh and hide in a cozy retreat hid among the snowy boughs.

    ReplyDelete
  48. That sounds like a nice idea, Beth - but hang on a minute, Oliver's got a surprise.

Mary, I think you're being a bit hard on him, he's been working like mad putting the finishing touches to a special celebration cake for Cindy - and if you look hard he's even made two little fondant icing copies of her book for it!

  49. THE GAZEBO DANCING EXCERPT:

“Yes, Logan.” Holly tried to smile, but it was futile by the way he stared at her.

“I—I…would you like to dance?” He broke eye contact and pointed over at the activity above them.

His offer to dance couldn’t have been more surprising if he had expounded upon Bach’s harmonic chord analysis. Logan didn’t dance. Holly wasn’t even sure he could dance. The music playing was slow and romantic with the words sung in Italian by an awe-inspiring baritone. To dance in the muted light to such a song was way too romantic a gesture for Logan.

    “You hate to dance.”

“Yeah, I know.” The smile he gave her was subtle as always, yet so darn adorable. Her legs went a little weak at the sight. Lord, help me. Seriously, Lord. Help! The last thing I need is to go head over heels—figuratively and literally.

    ****

How infuriating was this? Not only was he flubbing up all this with Holly, but now he’d roped himself into dancing. Not just dancing, but dancing in the gazebo at a major town function. Logan could just imagine the look on Muriel Potter’s face if she spotted them. He grabbed Holly’s hand and raced up the steps. No use in prolonging the inevitable.

It didn’t take long before they were face-to-face in one corner of the dance floor. He stepped closer, her profound blue eyes staring him down. She didn’t think he could do this. Her smile was almost a dare; it was definitely playful. He pulled her into his arms and began swaying in time to the music. Holly followed his lead without question as if they had been made for this moment in time, each movement fluid and together.

“You’re good,” she said, with a laugh.

“Surprised?” He gave her a slow spin.

“Yes!” she replied with energy when she faced him again.

“For that I just might make you dance again.”

    “Threatening me now?”

“Is it a threat?” He tightened his hold around her waist and she pulled her perfect, sweet lips up into a radiant smile.

As they continued the slow dance, she rested her head on his chest and his heart began to thump rapidly. He lowered his head near her ear. “Why didn’t you tell me, Holly?”

    ReplyDelete
  50. Ah, Oliver, how sweet. It looks too good to eat. On second thought, not too good. I'm still starving. The cinnamon bun just didn't do it for me. It's almost lunch time here in NC. I'll take a hamburger now. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  51. LOL Mary...as if... You know Oliver! He moves at his own pace despite my threats to fire him and sell him to the highest bidder at the auction!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Crumbs, did you see that soppy expression in Oliver's eyes when he presented Cindy with her Release Day cake?

Hey Oliver, talking about crumbs, if it's not too much trouble I wouldn't mind a piece of that cake myself! Cindy, that's a beautiful excerpt, makes go all weak-kneed!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Well I felt a little bad at yelling at him when he came in with that beautiful cake with the two book covers on top. It's wonderful! Oliver those winks and those eyebrows always get to me. He toddles off to wait on Cindy. Junior and Cuddles are sleeping by the stove and the gentle snowfall is making me very nostalgic.

    ReplyDelete
  54. May I have a double splash of peppermint Schnaps in my hot cocoa, please? I'm not much of a cold weather person but have on my battery operated heat socks and gloves. With this down coat and hat on I'm quite toasty.

Ah, thank you, Oliver. My cocoa is perfect. Smack, smack!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Mary, I know what you mean, snow always makes me nostalgic too. And it's so magical here, with the fairy lights round the gazebo and the snow sparkling. Cindy and the guests all look so pretty in their winter attire, and Oliver his usual hunky self! Aw how sweet Cuddles and Junior really wore themselves out with all that skating and playing in the snow, didn't they!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Oh Linda, what a good idea to have battery operated gloves and socks - they're going on my Christmas list pronto!

    ReplyDelete
  57. MMM, I'd love to have some of those warm toasty slippers. My feet are always cold. LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Cindy, great excerpt. And Oliver, what a gorgeous cake. Yes, cut slices for everyone. Linda, I had a pair of those slippers and they are sooo great for a snowy morning or evening.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Great idea with the socks and gloves. My kinda warm clothing.
junior and Cuddles are resting and sleeping under Cindy's throne. Oliver dragged that throne out here all by himself.
I have to say that this indoor- outdoor party is so great. It's not windy so the air is not frigid, everything is perfect. Yes Lyn, I love snow. I want to move to Bryson City, NC. I hear they get some on occasion.
I'll send Junior over to the Pink Fuzzy Slipper guys for some extra warm slippers. Slippers for everyone. (Waterproof hopefully)

    ReplyDelete
  60. Oooh, pink fuzzy slipper sound wonderful - in fact fuzzy slippers of any colour will be fantastic to keep our tootsies warm!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Hey Mary--I forgot you've been back visiting Bryson City. I don't know if you remember me telling you that my mom and brother both taught at a Christian school in Bryson City a few years back. My mom loved the scenery.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Hey Cindy, if you need a hamburger, hot dog, of philly cheesesteak...I suggest you check out Cloos Coney Island.

It's across from NC State in Mission Valley (the area up near the Blockbuster)

I've been going there 16 years...my husband all 20 years it's been open.

I had an early lunch their with hubby on his way into work. (He's a computer geek with flexible time...just means he works till 8pm.)

    ReplyDelete
  63. Hey Beth C!
That sounds great. I haven't eaten a thing all day (in the real world that is). Just about time to stop for some lunch. We just might have to check that place out over the weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  64. LOL! Just noticed the graphic of Oliver with the cake. You guys are great!!

    ReplyDelete
  65. That's right your mom knows beautiful scenery when she sees it,
The leaves were in the middle of changing and the colors, incredible!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Pink fuzzy slippers and one of those blanket with sleeves thing on it in side. Out side I am wearing what Sharon dressed me in. She told us what to wear this week.
Even with the snow fall it's not freezing out, it's a lovely just lightly chilled day. Ow! OO-OO--that is so cold. Oliver I am gonna get you, Cuddles freeze him for me he keeps putting snow down my back.

    ReplyDelete
  67. How lovely, Cindy. You created a wonderful winter wonderland.

    ReplyDelete
  68. LOL Mary. I didn't actually threaten you if you didn't wear what I...ah...strongly suggested...did I? LOL BTW, what's wrong with your costume I designed for Cindy's release party? Sharon bats her eyes....

    ReplyDelete
  69. Welcome, Sandy. Kick back and stay a while. Oliver just cut the cake and oh, yes, thanks, I'll have a burger.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Hi Sandy!
Haven't they made a beautiful winter wonderland us to party in?? :)

    ReplyDelete
  71. So Cindy, have you ever been to a real winter carnival? And if so, where?

    ReplyDelete
  72. It was the tu tu. Did I have to wear that?

    ReplyDelete
  73. Actually I thought the tutu suited you Mary, with the faux fur lining and the fluffy leggings and boots! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  74. Hey Sharon,
I have been to a winter carnival but never with snow. :) I come from Southern California and we have to use the fake stuff. Hee! Even in NC where I now live we don't get much snow. The occasional powder. When I wrote Snow Kissed I asked for lots of advice on what you love and hate about snow. I'll be sharing more about that on Monday at the White Roses in Bloom blog.

    ReplyDelete
  75. What a great story for a holiday romance. I love the premise--and the excerpts are great.

I think the sexiest song to dance to in a gazebo one winter evening would be "Baby, It's Cold Outside"...now that's not a super slow song but it has a nice melody you could waltz around a little to and the lyrics are so sexy and romantic.

Congrats on your new release, Cindy. I think holiday-themed books are hard to write--you have to have a really grabbing storyline--and this one really captures you--just with the blurb. The book cover is great, too!

Best of luck--and I hope you get to keep the green dress/costume. It's divine.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Hello, Danielle! Thanks for stopping by. Oh, yes, I'm going to do my best to keep this dress. It will look great on me for my anniversary next month. ;)

My 1st published book was a Christmas novel and I promised myself never to do it again. Dec. is already too crazy for us (my anniversary, my son's b-day, my mom's b-day and Christmas!!) But I think Snow Kissed will sell just from the cover.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Hi Danielle! Grab some refreshments and stay a while. You know, Cindy. What always amazed me about California is that you can be sun bathing and skiing on the same day (up on the mountain. Isn't it Big Bear?) My cousin used to live there and said it was awesome..

    ReplyDelete
  78. Cindy,
What a gorgeous cover and lovely book. Enjoyed your excerpt and writing very much.
Nice graphics, who ever did them.
I do have the hots for Oliver, I wonder if he'd be interested in an old grandma like me?

    ReplyDelete
  79. Yes, it's very true. When I was in high school our church youth group used to have snow and sand days. We'd go to the mts in the morning and the beach in the afternoon.

Before we moved, I lived right in between. About 40 minutes from the beach and about the same from the mountains. Big Bear.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Hi Danielle, hi Patrice, nice to see you both here - ah here comes Oliver skating over the ice with yet another tray piled full of hot drinks and delicious hot snacks. Mmm I just can't resist hot chocolate fudge cake, Oliver, you do know my weaknesses.

Now stop winking at Patrice, Oliver, you are such a flirt! and no, Danielle doesn't want a snowball down her neck, thank you.

Fascinating story about your sand and mountains day, Cindy, I can't imagine two extremes being so close. When I lived in Wales, it was a short walk to the sand - but thee mountains were close by too, and if it was warm enough for the beach, it was also too warm for any snow!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Hello Patrice! Thanks for stopping by the roast. :)

    ReplyDelete
  82. Patrice, don't worry, you are magically regressed to the age of 21. You look your best. If Oliver doesn't work out take a look around.
Ever see so many hunks in one place at one time? That's the beauty of this blog, you are whatever you want to be.
Cindy the gown is yours. Just remember the Emperor's new clothes when you wear it. Or a nice copy could be made. It looks great in the picture. Me I can't wait to remove this pink huge tu tu. It's makin' me sneeze. Sharon, remember next week, it's mine.
It wouldn't be so bad, but the slippers, the tu tu, the huge warm parka, the muffler, hat, scarf, I'm sweating in here. (I look like the pillsbury dough boy), when do I get to take the tu tu off?

    ReplyDelete
  83. Hi Patrice. Our very own Lyn does all the graphics for the posts. Aren't they lovely? Hat's off, Lyn!

    ReplyDelete
  84. LOL Mary! Poor baby. Like you said, next week is your turn so I guess I'll be cryin' in my whatever you dress me in, huh? What's that old saying about payback? And don't get mad...get even! LOL Did I mention I'll be on vacation next week with Oliver? LOL

    ReplyDelete
  85. FREE READ STORY:
If anyone is interested, I have a free read available at White Rose Publishing. If you follow the link at the bottom of today's post, it will take you to all my books at WRP. 'My Grand Epiphany' is the free one.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Thanks, Cindy. We'll be sure and check it out! Are they still taking free reads or is that over? I remember Rhonda saying they were going to cool them down for a while or am I mistaken?

    ReplyDelete
  87. Wait a minute, you won't be here next week Sharon? Oh the Horrors!!!! Say it isn't so! You'll be here right, I'll let you have fall back clothes.
Oliver isn't gonna be here to serve either. Oh the humanities!!! That ain't fair.
I'm gonna go read Cindy's free read. Did you all hear about it?

    ReplyDelete
  88. Sharon-I believe they are still taking them at WRP but TWRP has decided to hold off on them for the present.

Hope you enjoy the story, Mary. That free read was a fun fly by the seat of my pants story. It's cute and funny. Well, all my stories have humor. Can't write without it.

    ReplyDelete
  89. It is cute and funny,I suggest everyone should go and take a read.
    It's a mood elevator!

    ReplyDelete
  90. Relax, Mary! I was just kidding. I'll be here, never fear....and you can dress me however you see fit. I'll just grin and bear it! LOL We wouldn't dream of going awol on you!
Cindy, thanks for the update. I thought I remember reading that. Can't wait to check out your free read!

    ReplyDelete
  91. Thank goodness, I was about to whine.
Oliver a drink quick. It that Cindy dancing on that table over there? Too many hot toddies Cindy?

    ReplyDelete
  92. Me too, Cindy, the free read I mean! Since I'm doing NaNo, short stories are about the only thing I have time to read!

Mary, since you're organising nedt week's roast I'm going to be very, very nice to you - otherwise I hate to think what I might end up dressed as! LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  93. Must be all that snowball throwing - I can't type! aargh!

    ReplyDelete
  94. Me dancing on tables? Oh, my, what did Oliver put in this hot cocoa??

    ReplyDelete
  95. It's getting close to the hour that we start to slow down. Please keep the comments coming and stay with us as long as you want to. I will be back and forth to check on the blog. Cindy you are a wonderful person and your writing is up there with the best of them. I wish you luck and happiness! Mary takes the tu tu off. I only wore it for you Cindy. I'm off to find something comfy to wear with my slippers.

  96. The inspirational music for the gazebo scene:

When I wrote Snow Kissed, I had headphones playing the albums of JOSH GROBAN. His music is oh so romantic and so that's what I imagined Holly and Logan were hearing when they were dancing together.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Oh dear, I think it may be Cuddles up to his mischief again, Cindy, he tends to dip his magic horn in people's drinks and they tend to do things they wouldn't dream of doing normally - just silly things though, like dancing on tables, but I have to admit, you do it well!

Oh, and that music is so dreamy isn't it!

    ReplyDelete
  98. OH OH, OH, I love Josh Groban I can't listen without crying for the beauty of his voice. Has any one ever affected by a song or singer?

    ReplyDelete
  99. You are up on the table dancing too Lyn, you do a great imitation of Barney. Or is that your attempt at exotic dancing?

    ReplyDelete
  100. Oooh, that's nice, Cindy. You know there's just something about some of the old Bryan adams love songs that do it for me. Hmmm. He has such a sexy voice.

    ReplyDelete
  101. "It's supposed to be exotic dancing Mary, er, Oliver put me up to it! I think Cindy's Viennese waltz with him is much better though!

    ReplyDelete
  102. It's just the tu tu, it ruins the moment. But you will dress Sharon too, and time flies.
Look the snow stopped and it's all serene and quiet save for a few voices talking quietly.
Anyone up for a sleigh ride? Oliver is driving the matched pair of chestnut geldings. They shake their heads and snow flies, as they stamp their hooves to show they are ready and anxious to go.

    ReplyDelete
  103. All aboard! Sounds like a fun way to end the carnival! Hang on to your tu tu, Mary! And, Cindy, with Oliver driving the horses, your pretty green frock might get snowblown. Come on, Lyn. Oh all right, you can wear a pair of antlers.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Yes, yes, let's take a sleigh ride. A perfect way to spend the rest of the afternoon.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Oliver helps Cindy into the sleigh to sit beside him. Everyone else piles onto the sleigh as best they can. Alongside, Junior and Cuddles bound along excitedly, easily keeping up with the horses as Oliver flicks the reins. They glide across the moonlit winter wonderland to the accompaniement of dozens of tiny harness bells.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Dashing through the snow...in a one horse...ah..two horse open sleigh! Sure hope it isn't the headless horseman! Laughing all the way...until we hit a stump and go flying up in the air and land in the snow!

    ReplyDelete
  107. Oh, phooey, now my lovely dress is soaked. Oh...but Oliver is pretty wet too. (blush)

    ReplyDelete
  108. And to all a good night?

This sleigh ride stuff is wonderful. Oliver just broke into a loud chorus of Silver Bells as he stands and holds the reins of the dual team in his hands.
This ride should be fun. Follow us everyone Oliver is leading us to look at a wonderful view.
    What a man.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Cindy I don't know how your dress got ruined you landed on me and Lyn, you still look lovely and we look, well I did hate this tutu.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Oh, dearie me...How did I land in the skating pond? Oh no, it's cracking! Help! I'm crashing through the ice!!

    ReplyDelete
  111. *Giggle* I think we all landed in a heap, and don't worry Cindy, your dress will soon dry out, that green velvet is so thick, the snow will just brush off. Funny how you and Oliver landed in exactly the same spot! LOL.

Oliver, if you hadn't pretended to be Ben Hur and looked where we were going, we wouldn't have all got tipped out. Never mind, no-one's hurt and the horses are standing there patiently. Let's get back in, pull the blanket around our knees and carry on with our sleigh ride!

    ReplyDelete
  112. Junior quick Sharon is falling through the ice. OOOHHHH NOOOO she's in the water, floundering in her tutu. "I got her Mom don't worry", Junior sends his thoughts my way. Hurry.
Junior slides on his stomach slowly reaching Sharon and putting a rope in hands before scurrying back. "Hold On Sharon!! We'll get you out."

    ReplyDelete
  113. Woah - hold it everyone, Sharon's fallen through the ice - Oliver, take your arm from around Cindy for a minute and save her! No - Sharon, not Cindy. Cindy's OK, it's Sahron that's drowning!

    ReplyDelete
  114. Oliver help please we got a line to Sharon, but Junior and Cuddles aren't strong enough to pull her out. It's that darn tutu weighing her down. "Take off the tutu Sharon, You're sinking!"

    ReplyDelete
  115. Wait I hear it. Oh my God it's Tarzan! He's sliding from one tree to another and he must be cold in that loincloth~

    ReplyDelete
  116. Everyone grabs hold of the rope, Junior holds on with his teeth and Cuddles flies overhead and takes hold of Sharon's collar in his mouth. Gradually with everyone pulling, there's a mighty plop and Sharon sits on the bank, glowering at Oliver.

Oh dear Oliver, she doesn't look very pleased with you!

    ReplyDelete
  117. Do you see them? The duke, the James Gang, holy moley, there are tons of old visitors coming to save Sharon!

    ReplyDelete
  118. Tarzan - where did you come from? Wrong continent - we'll call you when we're somewhere warmer!

    ReplyDelete
  119. Oh my goodness did you see that they all ended up in the pond. Lyn did you know it was only waist deep. They are standing and getting out of the cold water.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Someone give Tarzan a coat he wants to party. They all want to party. This is amazing. Sharon jump back in let's see who else shows up.
No just kidding. What a party!!!
Back into the sleigh piled together, one more try as Oliver snaps the reins.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Wait, Sharon grabs the reins and starts smacking Oliver with them. He's saying he's sorry, but laughing.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Well I guess I'll drive a bit. Sharon is chasing Oliver with a riding crop and there she goes. I never knew she was that agile. I'm impressed.

    ReplyDelete
  123. HYes, it's amazing how fast she can run - but Oliver's just a shade faster, lucky for him!

Wow,so many people turning up, and this was supposed to be a gentle sleigh ride! Never mind, They did save our Sharon! Let's hope
The Duke and those outlaws have brought their horses, or this sleigh's going to be mighty overcrowded! Oh look, the Duke's got Cindy in front of him on his horse, and she seems to be enjoying it!

    ReplyDelete
  124. Well he is pretty hot at 21. Don't you think. So nice they all come in their prime. I see Sharon is still chasing Oliver. Go get him!!!
Cindy looks so happy up there don't she?

    ReplyDelete
  125. Whew... Sharon climbs back in the sleigh and adjusts her tu tu. Now see there, Mary. If not for the tu tu to grab hold of, I'd be a gonner! Now let's carry on with this sleigh ride through the wonderland. Did someone bring something to take the chill out? Chatters teeth. Cindy, did you invite the Duke? Lyn? Holy heck, the James Gang is after us. We might all get Snow Kissed!

    ReplyDelete
  126. Oh yes, Mary, you're so right. Cindy, don't you realise that's not just 'a' duke - that's 'the' Duke you're riding with!

Sharon - what you saying, we might all get snow kissed? Wheeahay, I knew this was going to be a great party!

    ReplyDelete
  127. I am puckered up and ready those guys are cute. Can I kiss them Chris?

He says don't care, I'm ready.

    ReplyDelete
  128. You mean you didn't get warm chasing Oliver like that Sharon?

Oh look, here he comes now, pretending to be a Saint Bernard, with a barrel of brandy round his neck and a hang dog expression!

    ReplyDelete
  129. Snow Kissed, what a wonderful title. Someone should write a book with that name. Oh, they did, must me the spiked hot chocolate?
Just kidding. I know Sharon and Lyn, I know.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Thank you. Yes, that's better. The brandy might prevent me from catching pneumonia. Oh, Mary's all puckered up and waiting to be Snow Kissed by the Duke! Oops, too late. That was Junior and Cuddles is right behind him. Mary stop puckering your lips. You look like a drunken fool!

    ReplyDelete
  131. Isn't this the line for kissing the Duke? bleckkk, Junior stop kissing me. It was supposed to be, wait, was it the James Gang, Tarzan, the Duke I'm clonfused. Okay Cuddles I see you laughing, what did you spike my hot chocolate with. I feel dizzy...

    ReplyDelete
  132. Well, Cindy. It's after five. I have to go see about dinner, but feel free to stay as long as you like. Thank you for being a delightful and fun guest. We so enjoyed hosting you. Best of luck with Snow Kissed! All good things! Keep the dress as a remembrance of the sleigh ride!

    ReplyDelete
  133. Cuddles, come back here this instant, I can see yoiu twinkling through those snowflakes.

You naughty little unicorn, you've been dipping your horn in those drinks again. You'd better start behaving or I'll forget you helped save Sharon and let her take you to the auction as well as Oliver!

Poor Mary, look Oliver says he'll kiss you if you like (Since he seems to have lost Cindy to the Duke!)

    ReplyDelete
  134. Me too. Dry off Sharon and keep the tutu as a remembrance too.

    ReplyDelete
  135. I am puckered for the Duke, I'll let you know how it was later. Bye for now ladies. Hope you had fun Cindy. You are gonne sell a million books!

    ReplyDelete
  136. They watch as Sharon rides off into the sunset on board one of the outlaw's horses (Can't quite see if the outlaw's with her or not.)

Ah well, on with the sleigh ride, pass over some of that hot chocolate, Oliver!

Cindy, it's been such fun having you along today. I've just bought my copy of 'Snowkissed'. If I can resist temptation, it will be my reward for finishing NaNo!

    ReplyDelete
  137. Come on Lyn, I'll cyber walk you home since Sharon took off with the outlaws, she's a pistol.
I have a thermos of the hot chocolate, wanna take the sleigh and go for a ride?
