As many of you may know, our beloved sister hostess SHARON DONOVAN, tragically passed away on 11th April 2012. We who knew her, loved her, and were inspired by her courage and determination to face head on whatever life threw at her. When she could no longer see to paint she turned to writing and showed her amazing talent in the Inspirational Romance and Romantic Suspense genres, and her story 'Charade Of Hearts' was awarded the coveted Predators and Editors Award in January 2011.This Blog was a source of great delight to her, she was one of the founder hostesses and she contributed to the fun and silliness in her own original way, and was kind enough to let her unique creation, the hunky butler 'Oliver' join us for our Friday romp and prepare 'virtual breakfast' for the guests on the following morning. It's beyond hard to have to go on without her, but we know that she would have been the first to insist that 'the show must go on.' She is, and will always be with us in spirit.Sharon, dear friend, we will never forget you.
The Author Roast and Toast is part of the legacy you left us. Let's raise a Toast to you as well as all our guests.

Birthday Roast for Teri Wilson
Thank God it’s Friday! And it’s party time at The Author Roast and Toast! Welcome fellow bloggers! We are cooking up a special treat for Teri Wilson. Today just happens to be release day for Once Upon a Collar. And if that isn’t reason enough to celebrate, there’s more. It’s Teri’s birthday…and the party sizzles! But before we call this brave spitfire out to be grilled at the stake, here’s a little about our victim.
Teri loves God, dogs, romance and cute shoes. She is the author of four published romance novels and a Bible Study Guide for animal lovers. Her on-going chick lit series, Chihuahuas are Better than Facelifts, won the Pet Sitters International Humor Award last year and is currently in its 12th installment. Her first full-length inspirational
romance, Cup of Joe, releases in December of this year. And her novella, Once Upon a Collar, is being serialized by White Rose Publishing and is available to readers
for free on the White Rose Yahoo group.
She is the author of the Hoofbeats & Heartstrings series of romance novels from The Wild Rose Press which celebrate love, miracles and the beauty of horses. A portion of the proceeds from all the Hoofbeats & Heartstrings books go directly to help horses in need at Saddlebred Horse Rescue.
Once Upon a Collar will be serialized one chapter a week on the White Rose Yahoo Group and then it will no longer be available

Once Upon a Collar
Blurb:
Whenever Emilie Bonner meets a man, she can’t help but imagine what he would look like on top of a wedding cake. Since she spends most of her waking hours designing wedding cake toppers, it’s somewhat of an occupational hazard.
Somewhere along the way--perhaps after the first two hundred or so--hand-crafted bridegrooms, Emilie begins to doubt she’ll ever find her own happily-ever-after. Then, after a mysterious encounter with a woman who could be an angel, Emilie meets a handsome stranger at the dog park. At first, it seems as though Matt, with his big dopey dog and irrepressible charm, is the Prince Charming she’s been waiting
for. Not only is he a sweetheart, but he’d look great on top of a wedding cake.
Soon, however, she discovers something about him that changes everything and leaves
her wondering…does God believe in fairy tales?
Excerpt:
“Would you care for some company?”
Butterflies take flight in the pit of my stomach until I realize that no, God is not answering me in an audible fashion. Rather, someone is addressing me right here in the dog park. A man, if the deep voice is any indication. A man who is, apparently, not intimidated by outrageously large dogs.
Bright sunlight assaults my vision as my eyelids flutter open. I can’t see the stranger belonging to the manly inflection, only a dark shadow backlit by rays of glittering sunshine.
“I’m sorry to disturb you. I just thought you might enjoy some company.” The shadow gestures to the slightly smaller shadow next to him. “I figured we big dog people need to stick together.”
Big dog people? But I thought I was the only one, as in big dog person. Singular. I shift on the bench and squint at the smaller shadow. When the bright spots clouding my vision finally clear, I see a panting dog staring back at me. A very large, panting dog. Not a St. Bernard, but the next best thing.
“A Newfoundland!” I squeal, unable to contain my enthusiasm at finally finding a suitable buddy for Bernard. “I can’t believe it. You have a Newfoundland.”
I offer my hand, palm up, to the shaggy black dog for an introductory sniff. The Newfie responds with a long swipe of his tongue across my knuckles.
“Bear, didn’t anyone tell you it’s not nice to go around kissing strangers?”
At last, I tear my gaze from the Newfie and get my first glimpse of his owner. And, oh my, his shadow didn’t do him justice. Mr. Big Dog has soulful blue eyes and short, thick hair the exact same color as Annabelle’s chocolate ganache. I must say, it’s every bit as mouthwatering as a hair color. I am momentarily rendered dumbstruck, so I blurt out the first thing that enters my head. “Oh, it’s no bother. I don’t mind being kissed. I rather like it.”
Almost before the words leave my mouth, a burning sensation settles in my cheeks. I did not just say that. I cringe as Mr. Big Dog laughs, his sea-blue eyes dancing with humor. Ugh. Maybe I did say it.
The lights flicker once, then twice. Then all go dark in the Cinderella castle where Teri is being grilled. But then a beautiful birthday cake appears in a kaleidoscope of candles. The audience gasps as the cake explodes and Teri Wilson pops out. Oliver rushes to her, kisses her on the cheek and presents her with a bouquet of white roses. The hostesses along with Cuddles and Junior gather around and croak out a verse of Happy Birthday. Then Oliver ties Teri to the stake. With a wicked wink, he gives the go ahead for Junior and Cuddles to steal one of Teri’s cute shoes. And with Oliver egging them on, the mischievous unicorn and dog are off and running.
Come on, Teri. So you believe in fairy tales and the happily ever after, do you? We’ll see about that. Let’s crank up the heat and get this party rolling. You can’t go too far with only one shoe. And if you don’t get it back by time the bell in the tower gongs, you’ll turn into a pumpkin. Fear not, it’s all in fun. You signed the contract, promising to keep your sense of humor for seven hours straight, chat with the bloggers and give a copy of Once Upon a Collar to one lucky blogger at the end of the day. No, too late to change your mind. It’s time to sizzle! And now fellow bloggers, here is the question you must answer for Teri in order to be put in the contest. Leave a comment and Teri will choose a winner. Ready, set, go!
Remember, if Teri doesn’t get her shoe back by the end of the roast, she’ll turn into a pumpkin, putting an end to her fairy tale and her chance for a happily ever after. So here’s the million dollar question:
Where in the twenty-four room Cinderella castle did Cuddles and Junior hide Teri’s cute shoe?
Put your best foot forward, fellow bloggers! Good luck!

Boy those balloons look great! And we have a wonderful cake to pass around. Junior stop trying to lick the cake and don't try to tell me Teri said it was okay. She's not even here yet. Is that Oliver setting up the food and beverages? Oh Oliver I love the new martini menu. That was such a good idea. You should make samples of a couple so people can see what they are like. Junior stop it Cuddles will be here soon and so will the guests. Is that Cuddles I see? I had no idea the little fellow could fly!
ReplyDeleteOh my it didn't tell it was me. Well it is. Junior come back with the chocolate martini chocolate is bad for dogs!
ReplyDeleteMary and Junior! you two are already here and what's this? Sampling Oliver's new martinis? Chocolate for Mary and a Cosmopolitan for Junior! Oh, Oliver dear, bring me a Sexy Devil! Wink, No, not you. Grin! Teri isn't here yet? Junior, where on earth did you hide her cute shoe? Anyway, Teri, when you do get here hopping along on one cute shoe, Happy Birthday! And welcome to a fun-filled release party!
ReplyDeleteSharon
Hello Mary, Hello Junior. Cuddles - how many times do I have to tell you not to hide Mary's identity?
ReplyDeleteOh yes, Mary, he can fly. He folds his wings behind his back and looks all innocent but he's a little scamp really!
What's that OLiver -- oh yes, I'd absolutely love one of your chocolate Martini specials - oof you don't have to hug me quite so hard! Your boss, Sharon will be here soon, and you know how strict she is *grin*.
Right, while we're waiting for Teri and the guests, Mary, let's help Oliver put the rest of the food out, there seems to be an awful lot of it!
Cuddles, stop dipping your horns in each one of the martinis! No need to sample each one. You'll be smashed before Teri arrives! Where's Lyn? What do you mean she's in the back with Oliver sampling his notorious Sexy Devil martini!
ReplyDeleteSharon
Darn, he won't tell me. He disappeared for awhile, so he hid it them. It's a big place to search. He does love shoes.
ReplyDeleteYes, he and Cuddles are a bad combination LOL. Cuddles tells me he dips his horn into the Martinis to give them a special magic 'Kick' to ensure every guest is merry and full of party spirit.
ReplyDeleteTrouble is, I saw him dipping his horn in the soft drinks too - Cuddles what have I told you about behaving yourself and being a good unicorn?
Cuddles stop it. No one will know it's me.
ReplyDeleteLyn I'm wondering how that----martini tastes.
Oh, hello Lyn! How is that chocolate martini? I heard from Oliver you wanted to sample a Sexy Devil! Grin. Sharon raises her martini glass and hopes Teri arrives soon. Gather round girls. When Teri arrives, we'll croak out another belt or two of Happy Birthday. And with a little coaxing, Oliver, Junior and Cuddles will chime in. Ready set go!!!
ReplyDeleteSharon
Absolooootely delishus, Mary, ooh, the bubbles tickle by dose!
ReplyDeleteAs for the sexy devil, just ask Oliver!
ReplyDeleteHow rude of Oliver to help Cuddles and Junior steal Teri's shoe! I bet they hid it in the kennel. Or a bedroom, so when Teri is all sloshed at the end of the party Oliver can work his charm on her. Maybe the chapel? No, the kitchen.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'm going to make a decision here. Her shoe is in the rose filled, inside garden--and I still think Oliver is up to something.
Double congrats, Teri! A release and a birthday - double the excitement! No better way to celebrate than a good roast! ;)
ReplyDeleteOo, Oliver, I'd love a chocolate martini. I'm ready to start the weekend!
Oh my goodness, Oliver has outdone himself. The table is covered with fancy little sandwiches, scones, all kinds of yummy looking hors d'oeuvres, shrimp thingees, oh yum more lobster salad. Wow what a birthday spread. And that cake is huge. What kind is it?
ReplyDeleteWelcome, Stacey! What great choices. How about a martini? Oliver will be happy to stir or shake one up for you.
ReplyDeleteSharon
Hi Stacey, Hi CAte, lovely to see you both. Lol, according to Sharon, Oliver is always up to something!
ReplyDeleteHello Cate! Oh and I believe Oliver remembers you all right. Look at that grin he's giving you while killing himself to get your chocolate martini to you!
ReplyDeleteSharon
Hi Cate, chocolate martini on the way. Good thing you got a lot of chocolate Oliver.
ReplyDeleteby the way Junior told me where the shoe is, Ha! no one will ever guess.
Oliver says the cake is a special layer cake, chcolate, lemon, vanilla, raspberry, coffee - in fact whatever your favourite type of cake is, it's in there somewhere!
ReplyDeleteI'm scared what with Cuddles dipping his horn in all the drinks. I'm not much of a drinker. What do you recommend that will not get me into trouble?
ReplyDeleteI suppose Teri's busy with the Fairy Godmother before making her grand entrance?
Stacey, how about a soft drink? Coke, Dr. Pepper, coffee or tea? Oliver will bring you whatever you want. I just called Teri and she's having problems hobbling on one shoe.
ReplyDeleteSharon
Maybe we need to send Cuddles and Junior to find her. Junior put the darn ball down and go find Teri!
ReplyDeleteMary, you're brave! What if they hide her with the shoe? Or steal the other one?
ReplyDeleteI'll be adventurous today--I'll try a small strawberry-mango martini--if they're on the menu, Oliver?
Yes off you go, Cuddles and Junior, find Teri - and don't get into mischief.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry Stacey, a unicorn's horn is magical - but despite being mischievous, because Cuddles is a unicorn he's incapable of doing anything bad, so you're quite safe with the soft drinks. They're non alcoholic and might make you giggle but nothing worse than that!
Oliver is at the ready with a Strawberry Mango martini for Stacey. Cheers! We'll all be looped before the birthday girl gets here. Teri----where are youuuuuu???
ReplyDeleteSharon
Junior stands ready to find Teri, Cuddles is testing his wings on the wind. Go on you to find Teri, and Junior don't be fresh when you find her. Leave that to Oliver.
ReplyDeleteHI TERI!!! I just wanted to stop by and say Congrats and HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I love your work!
ReplyDeleteBig birthday hugs!
Val
Hi Val - has Oliver offered you one of his special Martini's yet? Oh and do have a piece of cake.
ReplyDeleteWait Val, try the finger sandwiches. I had to explain to Junior that there were no fingers in the sandwiches. He thinks it's dumb to call them that, if there are no fingers in them. So I told him I was mistaken they were tea sandwiches.
ReplyDeleteSo then he was looking for the tea bags. It's so hard to explain things to a dog.
Well Lyn and Sharon, we have a problem. I thing that Teri, yes our guest of honor, has been, (I can't say it!), kidnapped. We will have to call out to our bloggers and do a square search.
ReplyDeleteJunior, Cuddles come back, got a serious job for you.
All right all. Calling all knights and princes. We are on an all and all out search for Teri. We'll return when we find her! Cuddles and Junior, follow Oliver.
ReplyDeleteSharon
So everyone, Where is Teri? Can you help us find her? There could be a prize in it for the first person to find her. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteJunior, Cuddles and Oliver, you know the drill. Find Teri. Oliver you take the helicopter and search the US. Cuddles, you head overseas, all the places she might be hiding. Junior here is a piece of her clothing, sniff it will you. Calm down Junior! I've never seen him so worked up. He says his nose is full of her scent and he's on the trail. Lyn, Sharon, and me, we can check the net?
I'll bet Teri's off searching for her shoe! It might be hazardous to celebrate wearing only one. Especially after these delicious chocolate martinis! Thanks so much, Oliver - it's almost as yummy as you!
ReplyDeletepant, pant, pant. It took me a while to get here. Some mischievous devil stole my Jimmy Choo.
ReplyDeleteActually, I thought I was supposed to be here at 10 central. :( Sorry.
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Sharon. Love your beautiful description. I could tell it was your writing even if you hadn't signed it.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to say, "Happy Birthday" to Teri, congratulate her on her new release and to cheer you Toastettes on your vivid imaginations.
Sure hope Teri gets her shoe back before the stroke of midnight.
Hugs,
Laurie
Oh Teri, are we glad to see you, we thought you'd been kidnapped, no wonder you had a job getting here without your shoe - but never fear, we've got the bloggers on to it!
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, happy release day, happy Birthday - oh and here comes Oliver, all dreamy eyed and gooey to wait on you hand and foot (if you'll pardon the expression in your one-shoe state! LOL)
Thanks for all the birthday wishes. This cake is devine. (pauses to lick frosting from fingertips)
ReplyDeleteAnd, actually, the prize isn't a copy of Once Upon a Collar. Once Upon a Collar is FREE for anyone who wants to read it. It will be released one chapter at a time on the White Rose Yahoo loop. The link is http://groups.yahoo.com/group/WhiteRosePublishing/
The first chapter released today!!!!
Ooooh Oliver. I'll have a Cosmo. It's not too early for a Cosmopolitan, is it?
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Teri! We had the search party out for you! Here comes Oliver with a Cosmo with your name on it. Hello to Val and Laurie! Martinis, girls? Now let's all gather round and sing Happy Birthday to Teri. Then she can tell the bloggers which of her books she'll give as a prize!
ReplyDeleteSharon
Oliver bows deeply and gazes deep into Teri's eyes.
ReplyDelete'Ma'am for you, anything is possible - and may I add my heartfelt Birthdya Wishes.@
Hey Terri. That puppy is so cute. Still waiting for my own Cavalier. I've at least convinced my husband not to have a Beagle. Halfway there. Just have to get him over the price of said puppy from a breeder. (And no I'm not against pound puppies...cavaliers don't show up there very often...it's a breed thing. I want a Cavalier and so far a breeder has been the way to go)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the release and the birthday.
Mary comes into the lush flower filled English garden. She has two leashes in her hands. Cuddles and Junior come strolling in. Leashed.
ReplyDeleteI had to, Junior was sniffing under poor ladies skirts. Said he was looking for Teri. Yeah right. And Cuddles was at WalMart, apparently they are selling a unicorn stuffed animal and he bought 50 of the. So we had to return them before we could come back.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR TERI -
ReplyDeleteer why do you think Cuddles and Junior have their hooves and paws to their ears?
Aw, you guys are so sweet! And such great singers!
ReplyDeleteWell since she snuck in here on her own, I don't think Teri is eligible to win the prize.
ReplyDeleteBut all the lovely flowers and things are enough. Did you smell those Gardenias?
So what did you get for your birthday Teri?
ReplyDeleteOh look, there's someone over there under that tree, Oliver's just gone rushing over with a tray - ah it's Laurie, hi Laurie, so glad you could join the party!
ReplyDeleteBeth, my puppy is gnawing on my one remaining shoe!
ReplyDeleteI haven't opened my presents yet.
ReplyDelete:(
Hi Beth, nice to see you, is Oliver looking after you OK. Aw what's wrong with Beagles? I've had two and they were the most gorgeous little dogs, wonderful companions. Cavaliers are cute to, though.
ReplyDeleteOh, Teri, you'll be barefoot soon!
ReplyDeleteAw, if you haven't opened your presents yet - just think, you have it all to look forward to!
Okay, so I have to give a different prize. Hmmm.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you guys want? Is that a loaded question? LOL
Happy Birthday, Teri!
ReplyDeleteThanks Stacey!
ReplyDeleteJunior goes up to Teri and bathes her face from chin to forehead in one swipe. He wants some attention, and Cuddles is next to him, chuckling, because he knows where Teri's shoe is hidden.
ReplyDeleteHow about a download of one of your books for the person who finds your shoe Teri? Oh and I can't wait to read the first chapter of 'Once Upon a Collar.' I've been looking forward to it for so long!
ReplyDeleteLook out there are werepenguins hiding in the brush around our garden escapee. I don't know exactly what a werepenguin is but I hear from Skhye that they can be very dangerous!
ReplyDeleteOliver help offer them a martini or something!
ReplyDeleteOooh Mary, werepenguins, yes, Skhye knows a lot about those.
ReplyDeleteJunior, Cuddles, send them off, we don't want them hijacking the party.
Right Teri, would you like some of this rather delicious cream trifle Oliver's rustled up - or another martini? Oliver quit drooling over our guest of honour and make sure she has enough refreshments - or I'll have to tell Sharon, and you know how she's always threatening you with the auction...
Okay, the prize is a download of one of my books (winner gets to choose).
ReplyDeleteAck! One of those pesky were penguins just bit me on the toe. I really need my shoe back.
Cuddles, I have a pocket-ful of unicorn treats...is there anything you want to tell me??
Teri, here comes Oliver with another Cosmo martini and a wicked wink. Oh he's drooling and what's tis? Lo and behold, he has a dozen white roses for you. And he's singing Happy Birthday, Sweet Sixteen!Sharon
ReplyDeleteJunior is looking at Cuddles, like if he tells her he will be part of lunch. Cuddles is loyal Teri, nice try. You will have to get help from your friends on the blog to find that shoe. So far it's not in the kitchen, the garden, the kennel or the bedroom. But keep guessing people, try to think like a dog.
ReplyDeleteMore White roses?? My favorite. I might have to give Oliver a kiss. Or maybe that's the Cosmo talking.
ReplyDeleteThink like a dog. It's buried in the backyard!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, someone has hired a male stripper, no sorry, it's a clown and he's singing old Beatle songs as he plays a miniature ukulele. You want me to kick him out or give him a martini Teri? No I don't know his identity, who could it be?
ReplyDeleteOliver puckers up! Sharon waves to Beth. Did Oliver get you a martini of your choice? They're listed on his menu. I recommend the Sexy Devil.
ReplyDeleteSharon
A spoiled indoor dog, that is telepathic. He hides stuff I still haven't found.
ReplyDeleteA stripping ukulele playing clown? Aw, let him stay. It's a party.
ReplyDeleteHmm, I think I'll switch from a Cosmo to an Apple Martini. Yum. It goes well with birthday cake.
Cuddles sniffs at Teri's pocket, rolls his big blue eyes and gazes up at her longingly.
ReplyDeleteJunior gives him that 'don't you dare' doggy stare!
Aw Cuddles (Teri pets the unicorn's forelocks and jiggles her pocket).
ReplyDeleteCuddle will not tell you. I think you should give him a treat for being so affectionate. But by the singing clown, I swear he won't tell you where the shoe is. You'll need help from your friends. That's a hint.
ReplyDeleteHelp from my friends...The Beatles song...is it in the music room?
ReplyDeleteOliver beams brilliantly at Teri, grabs her for a birthday dance and a big kiss. They go round and round, Cuddles and Junior yipping in circles. Cuddles bucks Oliver with his horns and chuckles. Then Junior shoves his way between them. Oliver kisses Teri once more and presents her with an Apple martini and breaks into song. "Happy Birthday, Dear Teri! Happy Birthday to Youuuuuuuuuuu!"
ReplyDeleteSharon
* swoons under Oliver's piercing gaze *
ReplyDeleteDid I get it right??
Will Oliver slip my foot into my beloved shoe, just like Cinderella??
ReplyDeleteTeri, they are all dancing around and singing. You have cause quite a stir in our usually quiet blog. But it's about time we partied!!!
ReplyDeleteby the way, you can't win the book so even if you guess, I won't tell you. But no, it's not the music room.
Help, I need somebody! Help! Not just anybody! Somebody p lease please ase help me. Oh when I was younger so much younger than today...never thought I'd need anybody's help in anyway.....
ReplyDeleteOliver grins and swoons Teri in a dip.
Sharon
And I must say it's a very nice shoe. Jimmy who?
ReplyDeleteIt's been a hard days night and I been wookin' like a dog.
ReplyDeleteJunior puts his paw over Mary's mouth and shakes his head no. We got rid of the werepenguins and I'm next if I keep singing.
Hey Teri. In order for Oliver to put your shoe back on like Prince Charming, someone's gotta guess where your cute shoe is hidden! I've called the white roses over. Where art they?
ReplyDeleteSharon
pops in to say Happy Birthday Teri and suggest you look under the white rose bush at the bottom of the garden for the shoe.
ReplyDeleteLyn
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing wrong with Beagles. Problem is we live in a neighborhood that is half senior citizen and half small family oriented. Beagles are known to bark and well that wouldn't fit with our neighbors. And I know every dog doesn't always bark but with my luck our dog would bark at everything.
All the dogs around us are 10+ years old. They wander around occasionally and lift their if you might could be interesting. Young energetic Beagle pup not a good fit. Just trying to be a good owner and neighbor. :)
Beth, I'm rooting for you to get a Cavalier! Have you seen my doggy blog? The Spaniel Diaries?
ReplyDeletehttp://www.spanieldiaries.blogspot.com/
There are lots of photos of my puppy over there!
Hey Clare! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteNo shoe under the rose bush. Darn it!
Junior walks around the garden, preening, what the heck, beagles, heh.
ReplyDeleteI only bark when intruders come. Or you try to leave me home. but when the intruders see me they run. Ha! Little do they know I would never bite, I'm a big talker.
So I shed a little, big deal.
Welcome Clare! Great guess but no cigar. Can Oliver get you a drink? Hey Beth, what happens if a dog is eleven? Is he a senior citizen pup? LOL
ReplyDeleteSharon
Hey Teri! Are you having fun yet??? The party has just begun. More food or another of Oliver's martinis? He's pretty dazzled after dancing and that kiss! Oh look, here he comes with a white rose between his teeth!
ReplyDeleteSharon
Oooooh. I think Oliver wants to tango. I'm game.
ReplyDeleteWhat's that he's wearing Sharon, he's dropped the kilt. No I don't mean here Teri. He's changed just for you.
ReplyDeleteJunior and Cuddles are doing their rendition of Who let the dogs Out. I didn't know Cuddles could bark!!
LOL Mary. He only drops his kilt for Skhye! Oliver is wearing a Valentino costume and a charasmatic smile for the tango. So Cuddles and Junior...who really did let the dogs out? Arf arf arf arf arf arf!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSharon
Aw Beth, nothing wrong with being a good neighbour - it's just that having had two sweethearts I have a soft spot for beagles. I'm a softie for any kind of dog really though, my current one is a rescued terrier and he is such a character!
ReplyDeleteHOLD THE PHONE, ER BLOG!
ReplyDeleteTarzan has arrived he had such a good time last week. But he has brought his entourage, yep, you guessed it. There is a conga line of gorillas and apes out there and they are all singing Who Let the dogs out? What should I do?
Oh just look at Oliver go! I didn't know he could do the fandango! And now he's tangoing again with Teri.
ReplyDeleteCuddles I didn't know you could bark either! Wave your magic horn and get Beth her Cavaslier puppy!
Who Let the Dogs Out is the ringtone on my cell. What a coincidence.
ReplyDeleteOh crumbs - Junior why don't you and Cuddles ask those gorillas (politely) to help themselves to bananas and then leave.
ReplyDeleteOh no, Tarzan's sliding down the bannisters - and in Cinderella's fairy tale castle they're awfully long and winding!
Junior! I didn't know you could sing! And Cuddles, you play guitar so well with your unicorns! Girls, we must get a video going and send it to one of those animal shows Teri goes to. Maybe they can earn us some green! Oh and now Oliver is barking! Or is he howling at the moon! No, he's running from the apes!
ReplyDeleteSharon
That's a red furred female gorilla chasing Oliver Lyn. Cuddles has to do something they crashed the party and they are noooooooo, headed for the martini mixes. Oh my goodness what will we do with Tarzan and a bunch of drunken primates? Hey is that Sharon? She's swinging from the candelabra and yelling the words to Jump? No Sharon, don't do it!
ReplyDeleteYikes! Sharon lands on Tarzan's back and as they slide down the last part of the ballustrade, the fall in a heap at the bottom. Luckily Sharon has a soft landing on top of Tarzan!
ReplyDeleteOliver goes sprinting towards them, only to be stopped in midtrack by a piercing yell. One of the gorilla;s has picked Teri up and is trying to dance with her.
Oliver lands a well aimed smack on the gorilla's nose and the gorilla goes running off with his mates. Junior and Cuddles give chase. Oliver plants a kiss on Teri's cheek, helps Sharon to her feet and glares at Tarzan...
You misunderstood, Mary. I was mouthing the word "AUCTION" to Oliver! If he doesn't get the inmates under control, Cinderella..I mean Teri will never find her cute shoe!
ReplyDeleteSharon
Save me Oliver!
ReplyDeleteAnd that's OK, Sharon. I answer to Cinderella.
Oliver - Oliver no, put that cutlass down, no you can't make Teri walk the plank - Mary said 'drunken primates' not 'drunken pirates'!
ReplyDeleteTeri those puppy pics on the blog are so cute. Now I have puppy envy. Doesn't help that my husband's cousin just got a new do. (Their old dog who loved my husband recently passed away) I wish it was as easy as a magic wand to get a puppy.
ReplyDeleteGrowing up, I had Keeshond. She would bark at anyone walking by. The postman and UPS guys ran from our house. However, she was a fraidy cat. If you managed to get in the door, she ran and hid in my parent's room. It was funny to see the big burly brown clad men run from her. ;)
(If I spell you're name with two rs...sorry. One of my college friends is a Terri so remembering the right spelling is hard)
Oh thank you for the help. The primates have left, Tarzan is in the corner watching Oliver flirt with Teri and he is looking jealous.
ReplyDeleteJunior an Cuddles have returned, oh no, is that a hyena with them?
One of my dogs passed away too Beth and I still have not replaced him. It will take some time to find another dog.
Now run the hyena is goosing all the women. and the screaming is so loud. Ha! Looks like Sharon is enjoying it?
Thanks Beth. It took me a while to find the right breeder. I also would have liked a puppy wand!
ReplyDeleteOne of my friends has a Keeshond that she shows in obedience. He is gorgeous.
Is that sirens I hear? Junior quick lock the gate. I don't know who they have come for. But they are carrying a, gulp, white straight jacket for someone!
ReplyDeleteDon't tell Junior, but I would like a poodle mix, shitsipoo or a lhasapoo, no shedding!
ReplyDeleteJunior, cover your ears.
ReplyDeleteGood boy!
Hi, all.
ReplyDeleteI had the rare day off, and after sleeping late, I decided to drop in and check out the action as I'm scheduled for the spit next Friday.
As for action, this looks to be quite a ... busy place! Conga dancing apes and goosing hyenas. Hmm. Good thing I wore my sneakers.
Teri--many happy returns on your birthday and congratulations on the books you've written.
kat henry doran
Don't you worry Kat, we have big plans for you too. He,He,He...
ReplyDeleteThanks Kat!
ReplyDeleteHi Kat! So just to get you in the mood for next week, can Oliver get you one of his special martinis? He's posted his menu on the sideboard. Belly up to the bar and order up!
ReplyDeleteSharon
Hi Kat, nice to see you, if Oliver can take his eyes of Teri for a second I'm sure he'll look after you!
ReplyDeleteCate - did anyone say hello to you when you arrived, so sorry, it gets a bit hectic here at times, as you know. Say - was it you who brought Tarzan? LOL
Ter - talking about sheding - have you any tips. My little terrier leaves so much hair around the place we've forgotten what colour the carpets are!
Hey who was that they took away in the straight jacket?
ReplyDeleteOh my God it was Tarzan.
Hey, why is Oliver chuckling, Junior snickering and Cuddles hysterical laughing. Was Tarzan set up to be put in the nut house?
WOW!
Did you see how he slurped down that huge martini.
Wow. Tarzan being carried away. That's an image that will be burned into my brain for a long time. Did he take his monkeys with him?
ReplyDeleteI use a special tool called the Ferminator on my dogs. It really helps with the shedding. That and a good vacuum. LOL
What's a furminator? Gosh I need one, I have a black carpet. No wait terrazzo floors. Hmmm must be a ton of dog fur!
ReplyDeleteTarzan took the monkeys and other primates, but I think there is a hyena somewhere in the garden. And where is the SHOE? More guesses would be nice!
Oliver is putting fresh stuff out for the after work guests as they trickle in. Boy you have him trained Sharon. Well almost.
Teri, what a lovely voice you have. I really enjoyed your excerpt. May I offer you a taost of vodka? Oliver forgot to deliver vodka with the champagne. Happy release day and HAPPY BIRTHDAY>
ReplyDeleteSo Teri, would you like us to sing another round of Happy Birthday now that Tarzan and the apes have departed? And here comes Oliver with another huge hunk of cake and a glazed look in his eye. I dare say he's a wee bit smitten!
ReplyDeleteSharon
Teri - can you STAND us to sing again? *Grin* What's a furminator? I told Bouncer about it and he got quite worried and said am I sure it wasn't spelt wrong and you meant 'terminator'! LOL
ReplyDeleteHello Mona! Can Oliver make it up to you by offering you a double vodka martini? LOL
ReplyDeleteSharon
LOL - Mona, do you like it shaken but not stirred - or stirred but not shaken?
ReplyDeleteHi Mona. Thanks for the vodka. Nothing goes better with birthday cake. LOL If you like the excerpt, I do hope you join the White Rose yahoo group so you can read the entire novella for free. Chapter 1 was just released today. All the other chapters will be rolled out each Friday until Thanksgiving. The link for the yahoo group is:

A furminator is a type of shedding blade. You run it along your dogs coat and it strips out the undercoat. The first time I used it on my Golden Retriever, I could have filled a Hefty bag with all the hair it got out. It's amazing.
That sounds wonderful, Teri, I wonder if we can get them over here, I'll have to do a web search.
ReplyDeleteI hope you've enjoyed your party here today - Oliver, another drink for Teri, please, I'll have one too if you don't mind.
Yes, the party has been lovely. I've never heard so many rounds of Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteCan I have a Cherry Bomb martini to go?
ReplyDeleteOliver bows low, and produces a cherri bombe martini on a silver tray, with a flourish.
ReplyDeleteAs Teri catches is eye and thanks him graciously, he blushes as red as the cherry topped drink and it's obvious Oliver is once more in love (sigh)
"May I ask," he stutters, glancing down at Teri's bare tootsie, "Has any of the guests found Madam's slipper yet?"
Do come back and check later, the after work people come by then. And you choose who to give the book to, out of the guessers and tell us where the shoe was? Your shoe so you have to tell us where you found it!
ReplyDeleteI wish you the best with your books Teri, I'll be back and forth tonight.
I have this thing for Junior called a shedding blade, it looks like a folded in half saw, and the teeth pull the hair out, bags and bags full, yes Teri!!
We so appreciate your sense of humor, it's been fun. Come and visit us on Fridays, you are now a member and have to come!
Of course I'll be back. I still need my shoe (sob.
ReplyDeleteI promise if no one finds it Junior promises to go and give it back to you.
ReplyDeleteI just hope he doesn't get it all slobbered up. He loves to carry shoes around and he does have copious amounts of saliva. (He slobbers). Better have Cuddles carry it.
I'm sure one of the guests will find it for you Teri, enjoy the rest of your Birthday and we wish you every success with your books. Like Mary, I'll be around for the rest of the day (or evening as it is with me) and I'm off now to read the first chapter of 'Once Upon A Collar', I've been looking forward to that for ages. Thanks for being such a great guest!
ReplyDeleteThe hostesses all gather round Teri to sing Happy Birthday once more. Cuddles and Junior add their two cents worth. Oliver presents more white roses with a sweeping bow.
ReplyDeleteTeri, thanks so much for sharing your birthday/release of Once Upon a Collar with us today. We feel so honored and had great fun! Like Lyn and Mary said, come back when you can to see if your cute shoe has been located. Until then, enjoy your birthday.
Hugs,
Sharon
Just wanted to drop by and wish you a Happy Birthday - Teri and congratulations on your new release!
ReplyDeletePamt
Hey Pam, martini? The party is still going on, people are in and out.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!
Hi Pam, we're still here, tidying up, picking at the leftovers, trying to keep Junior and Cuddles in order - and Oliver!
ReplyDeleteSo pleased you could call in and visit Teri on her special day.
Hi Pam! Thanks so much for dropping by to wish Teri well. Oliver is still running around with food and drinks. Oliver, please see what Pam wants.
ReplyDeleteSharon
Sorry I missed the party but I had a rather hectic day. Hope you had fun. Just wanted to stop by and wish you a HAPPY BIRTHDAY TERI!
ReplyDeleteAnd Once Upon a Collar looks really cute - thought I might hold out and wait for tne next installment...but I have no willpower. Off to read!
Hi Donna. Oh, we all have those hectic days. Let Oliver wait on you hand and foot. He will be happy to give you a foot massage and bring you a snack. Take a load off and catch up with Teri.
ReplyDeleteSharon
